It's a little early in the day for theology
bosporan29 April 2022
Following Javi's dramatic removal from the board, the resulting vacuum creates a swirl of activity and changing allegiances and threats. Ruth grieves for Wyatt, Wendy and Marty scheme and take risks to find a way out of their new predicament with the FBI. The other key players each make significant decisions that could have dire consequences for the Byrdes and set up the final run-in beautifully.

Wendy Wendy Wendy. Bold moves. Good instincts. Maybe?
FilmBrat10529 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The cinematography and overall direction of Ruth's visions of Wyatt are gut wrenching and palpable. Julia Garner is exquisite. However, I would really like to see Laura Linney be recognized for her portrayal of Wendy. She's having her very own Heisenberg arc and I love and hate to see it. I imagine it will result in her downfall, possibly death, but I hope she sets a hellstorm in motion beforehand. I don't want the series to end in a whimper, and I think Wendy is a perfect catalyst of having it end with a bang. Her sureness, her arrogance, her spite, such an excellent character and (at this point) antagonist. She might just exceed that of Gemma Teller's villainy. Meanwhile, it's fun to see Mel working from the sidelines, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him killed off quite soon or he'll be the one to sink the Byrde's. Or at the least, a factor in sinking them.

Pick a God and Pray

Warning: Spoilers
I worry that they resolved too much too quickly. I don't think there are enough stories for the final few episodes and we'll just get the occasional scare moment like we got here.

Ozark Season 4 part 2 episode 2
matiasbockerman29 April 2022
The episode provides plans for a near future, how to survive this increasingly difficult situation. Nothing big happens, but contracts are made, lots of variables, interesting, really interesting. This is a skill of how to create expectations. How to create excitement and tension. How to Create anticipation. High expectations for the next episode. Incredible TV entertainmet.

Great despite the lazy plot point.

Warning: Spoilers
The scene at the end when Marty suddenly realises Wendy has potentially dropped him in the poop was so good I'm going to overlook the police ignoring a barn full of heroine at a double murder scene on a knwn producers land.

Poor writing? WTF...LOGICAL STEPS
JoacoRacing2923 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don t understand what reviewers means with poor writing...what so you expect to happen? After Javi's death, there s a void to fill, i understand why clare doesn t trust on byrde. They, for another hand, need Navarro to take over control. It s a risky move but expected.keeping in mind narco world they re moving season after season. What fails? Lines? The curse of action?

Very interesting the intervention of wendy s father and well developed ruth's process of grieving. I like this.

I don t know what you expected here, but it s a necessary episode to move on. Transition episode? How do you say?

Another flawless episode
gedikreverdi14 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Marty is going down to Mexico to reestablish Navarro's control. Wendy's father is in town and he's looking for his missing son with the private detective. Ruth made a deal with Clare and Wendy lost her own deal with her. Ruth just found very casually heroin which makes no sense since it was a crime scene but still I like the overall solemn atmosphere.

You're just another criminal
dannylee-7808228 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Everyone's looking for Javi 2. Wyatt gets a funeral 3. Omar sends Marty to Mexico

Wendy's playing a dangerous game, playing both Navarro and the FBI. It worked out thankfully, but Marty finds out. The relationship between the Byrds are interesting because of course they are no longer in active conflict, but they are hardly partners at this point. We've seen this type of conflict occur in the past, but this time, it almost looks like Marty doesn't care as much as long as the results are good.

The new potential partnership between Ruth and Shaw Medical is interesting. I really like the show in that it constantly puts characters that we root for at odds against one another, creating constant tension. One criticism I saw was that there is no way that the heroins at the Snells can't be just sitting there. That's fair. I think it would have been better if she found a hidden stash or something. A simple addition, but would have made more sense. This wasn't a major plot hole, so it can be forgiven.

Marty goes to Mexico for the third...time? This time as a sole representative of Omar. This should make it more interesting as I am sure Cartels don't enjoy listening from Gringos.

Another solid episode overall.

This show's 2nd part is the best
moviesfilmsreviewsinc28 July 2022
Episode 9 opens with Wendy and Marty returning to their hotel room, processing what they've just witnessed (Ruth killing Javi). Wendy asks Marty why he chooses everyone else over family and tells him he's desperate to be the "good guy." Marty disagrees, and they argue over the violent event and how it came to be. Marty admits that Ruth's entire family has been destroyed due to their actions. He's sick of having blood on his hands. Wendy raises how he knew better than her about this life. But that admission by Marty was telling - he's becoming self-aware of his actions. He's starting to see how they got here. Mel tells Helen's husband Gene that his wife worked for the drug cartel, which is why she has gone missing (i.e., she's dead in cartel terms). Erin interrupts their conversation and warns them not to get more information as it will be dangerous dealing with the cartel. However, Mel does not believe what happened to Helen occurred in Mexico; he wants to find evidence. Erin begs her father to let it go, and Gene agrees. Good idea Erin; stay away as far as possible. The FBI visit Wendy and Marty; they cannot find Javi, so the Byrde family does not have a deal. They tell them that Javi's death leaves them in a sticky situation, and the FBI can offer them witness protection if they testify against Omar Navarro. Wendy suggests they extradite Omar Navarro and reinstate him as the head of the cartel so they can remain valuable assets. The FBI needs proof of power and money from Omar Navarro in order to pull strings. Episode 9 sees Wendy having a humongous task on her hands. After this ordeal, Marty tells Agent Maya that Javi is dead, and he reminds her of their deal - family protection and doing 18 months in jail. Maya is stunned and tells Marty to get out of her office. Clare Shaw heads out to the Ozarks to meet Ruth. She tells her they have security footage of Ruth killing Javi, so they want her to carry out a deal with them. But Ruth doesn't care about the footage and grabs a shotgun. Clare is shaken and asks her henchman to lower his gun. She tells Ruth she wants a lucrative deal with her. Afterward, Clare rings Wendy and tells her their agreement is over. It looks like there is a little life left in Ruth after all. But what are Ruth's intentions?

Amazing Set-up Until...
Oktay_Tuna11 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the things going on in this episode. The first scene was fantastic, just Marty and Wendy discussing this with well-written dialogue and acting. I loved the Navarro stuff and how Ruth continued to cope with grief. Grandpa coming to Ozarks is okay I guess but I don't know what they're trying to achieve with that. But then, Ruth finds drugs just laying around the Snells. If it was somewhere hidden and Ruth knew where it was or found a way to find it with some clue then I would have probably given this episode a 9/10 but I can't just give this an episode bad rating because of a scene but the writers should have known better. For a high quality series like this, they should have known better.

Yep, like others are saying, lazy writing. And that's putting it generously.
russcampbell-13 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Both my wife and I were gobsmacked at the astoundingly lazy writing when Ruth goes out and finds a bunch of heroin sitting around in Darlene's barn as if the cops wouldn't search the entire area after a double murder. It's kind of insulting, no, very insulting, that the writers think this is ok. I guess after this much time, they know that we'll likely stick around to see how the story ends through a few more episodes, but I'm not sure how they look at themselves in the mirror and think of themselves as a good writer when they pull that kind of crap.

Lazy writing
chrisdiamantis30 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was ignoring the lazy writing for a while now. So, there is a crime scene with two dead bodies, the sheriff already knows that Darlene is dealing drugs but nobody searches the warehouse which is filled with heroine? I'm pretty sure i've ignored more stupid scenes like this one but now i decided to make a review.

Death of Plot
pjcguy-963-6772617 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The entire plot falls to pieces here. There is zero chance that the police and feds would NOT have found the barn and drugs that Ruth later uses to keep the series running. I will watch the rest, thanks to Ruth, but this is simply an inconceivable plot twist.

Should have been titled Pick a bad episode and prey it ends
maurice1111112 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not certain how the second half of this season is getting such high ratings. Just plain lazy writing with characters making illogical decisions, constant and annoying plot changes making little sense, cops not checking the entire property at the scene of a double homicide and conveniently leaving millions of dollars worth of heroin.

Also, I'm not certain why Marty became a background character and it became all about Ruth and Wendy, but the show has not been good since. One thing is for certain, I've become an expert with the fast forward button...

Just terrible dialogue
mrchrishain7 July 2022
Wow, the opening scene is terribly written. Zero subtext makes for deplorable drama. What's the saying, 'If the scene is about what the scene is about, you're in trouble.' Very amateurish scene work forced upon two excellent actors.

I've said it before but they really don't have a good concept of Laura Linney's character.
