A beautifully crafted and uplifting tale of self-discovery
allonzanfan-2248023 April 2023
Cherry is a poignant and timely dramedy that delves into the complex world of a young woman grappling with an unplanned pregnancy. French-born director Sophie Galibert delivers a captivating and heartfelt story, keeping the focus on Cherry's emotional journey rather than turning it into a political debate. Alex Trewhitt's portrayal of Cherry is both relatable and endearing, making us root for her as she navigates her difficult decisions. With a visually appealing and insightful costume design, the film celebrates personal growth and the power of choice. Although Cherry only briefly touches on the broader political context, it remains a beautifully crafted and uplifting tale of self-discovery.

A messy, endearing, American "Amélie"...

Loved the beauty of the pictures, this comedy-drama really shows Los Angeles in its best light and colors! The characters and the story feel authentic, touching, charming. A perfect cast to deliver this heartfelt story. Quite a timely topic too, giving us a much needed glimpse at the simple reality of unwanted pregnancy, far from the extremes and politics. A very down to earth approach, staged in a typical Californian beautiful background, highlighting the importance of your environment in such life-changing moments. Can't wait to see what director/writer Sophie Galibert will come up with next!... Bravo and thank you!
