A very paw movie (and that's probably better than any of the jokes in it)
trevorwomble11 October 2020
Saw this earlier because there is understandably very little in the terms of new releases that are not horror related.

I guess Warner Bros sneaked this one out because they were probably wondering what else to do with. So I guess they figured why not release it when there is nothing else for kids in cinemas (and alongside Covid you can blame Disney in large part for that). There are no famous names involved here, very little in the way of humour that anyone over the age of 8 would enjoy and the film lacks any originality. The first film was amazingly 19 years ago and did at least raise a smile and the occasional chuckle. The sequel in 2010 was pretty terrible but still had a sprinkling of genuine celebrities in the voice cast. This lame effort has no redeeming features, not even a likeable human cast. It is admittedly a smaller scale (and smaller budget) production than the first two and technically the effects etc are ok, but I suspect it will kill the franchise. Not sure what the scriptwriters have been up to for the past decade but I think the script may have been written by a ten year old as it is that undemanding and joyless. There is very little in terms of plot apart from a wealthy but unhappy boy with a dog and and a poor girl with a cat saving the world from a rogue pet determined to set cats and dogs against each other to allow other pets to be adopted. Obviously the budget didn't even extend to a little bit of Hollywood stardust in the casting as I haven't heard of any of these actors. The poor cast were probably hoping this would be their big break into the big time but instead they are finding themselves in a film that will not feature highly in their resume's.

I suspect this franchise is about to go the way of Look Who's Talking or Stuart Little and quietly disappear after starting off strongly and floundering on badly scripted sequels and a lack of imagination.

I'm giving this five stars because there is absolutely nothing else out for youngsters and this is an ok watch for the undemanding 6-11 year old who will forget it relatively quickly. I admit I wasn't expecting a work of art and at 81 minutes it was mercifully short. Hopefully there won't be a 4th instalment.

IT'S TV MOVIE or SHORT STORY!
nkatrinelist6 November 2020
I prefer the second and the first one than this season. i think this more like short story or TV movie than a movie. it's just a simple story. i thought this movie more cool or great but it's far from what i am expected.

Just how rushed was this?
litghtningkitzne26 September 2020
Wow this is just bad. The first movie had much more believable special effects than this. Any time the characters interact with anything around them, they're off screen and you get a show of a obviously fake paw doing all the interacting. The talking effects on their mouth is very blurry as if their faces are being stretched and pulled on a low quality image editor, with no cleanup done after.

Voice acting is also pretty bland, sounds like the voice actors are reading a script with no context on the scene they are reading it for. Plot was average, nothing to write home about.

If you want to watch Cats and Dogs 3, skip it and go watch the original one

Cats and Dogs working together
MB-reviewer1854 December 2021
Cats and Dogs (2001) had a interesting idea but it wasn't funny, along with the weird looking CGI for the cats and dogs talking.

Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010) was basically just like the first movie, it just added more stupid scenes and a annoying villain.

Now we have Cat and Dogs 3: Paws Unite (2020). After watching it I am sure this is definitely the worst of the 3 movies.

The CG with the talking mouths is bad, the jokes are not funny and obvious, and the characters are annoying. Especially the villain

The voice acting is average and the plot is pretty straight forward. Plot: Cats and dogs are working together but a bird villain is doing something to have them fight. It was a pretty standard plot.

It will mostly just cut to the villain doing weird and random things that didn't connect to the story. Most of the time I was asking "what is going on?".

This is pretty forgettable and I guess kids can be distracted by it. I didn't find it entertaining or funny, I just found it annoying.

This is quite a cute film for children and teenagers. The animals are cute and likable. I enjoyed it.

Way to ruin a franchise!
Angry_Santa15 September 2020
With a script that reads like it was written by a group of 13-year-olds between social media binges and a cast not even qualified to work as extras on a daytime soap opera, this abomination ticks all the boxes for a movie to steer well clear of.

Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack (the Warner brothers who created Warner Brothers) wouldn't just be turning - they'd be spinning in their graves if they could see just what pathetic depths their company has sunk to.

Don't bother wasting your time or money on this one. Even if it was shown as in-flight entertainment with no other option, you'll be reaching for the "off" switch within the first few minutes. No, I'm not exaggerating - it's universally unwatchable, no matter your age.

No!!! They ruined another franchise!
LashaneDemel17 September 2020
This is the worst movie in the Cats & Dogs franchise. What a horrible movie! I suggest you all not to watch this and save your precious time. But still first movie is the best. 2nd is average. But this is so unwatchable. bad music composing, bad CGI, terrible acting, no old characters. Nothing else to say about this nonsense!

Save your frustration and skip this one.

Warning: Spoilers
When a villain can do a 180 in two seconds, maybe it is time to review what little plot you have. Honestly, there was no pay out by the end of the movie. No big show stoppers or "sitting at the edge of your seat" feeling. I went into this movie thinking it was going to have SPY GADGETS and I was somehow disappointed at the total lack of what was introduced in the second film. Half the movie was just about how many discriminative animal jokes they could fit in. Also, three fourths of the main hero group were dogs. Cats & Dogs yet there is a single cat. I could understand it in the second movie as it was a look at a misjudged other side of a coin, but this was just ridiculous. This movie is supposed to take place 10 years after the second movie but the only progress they have is that they can work in the same building but still don't tolerate each other. And don't get me started on the drug that allows them to be friendly with one another. A drug and then they are instant best friends. And the frequency thing to make dogs and cats fight? A reused problem that is NEVER shown to have real consequences with the main characters. Honestly, I'm good with forgetting this movie ever existed. Straight to DVD for a reason. The only thing I thought was amusing was the alley cat scene and even that could of had improvements.

peter-crompton3 October 2020
Probably the worst film I've seen this decade. Poor plot, no humour, kids 6 and 3 thoroughly bored and underwhelmed , my wife and I falling asleep. How did this make it to the cinema? Trust me it's terrible!

No charm
Thomas-Musings4 January 2021
It's not often a movie is ruined in the first 30 seconds, but this film succeeds in doing so! It telegraphs exactly the type of infantile humor you will be seeing. None of the charm of the original.

Oscar bait?
tom-957902 October 2020
Name a better film, I dare you. With a complex plot and endearing characters, this film is the perfect piece of cinema. The cinematography is phenomenal, I'd compare it to Nolan, but that would be an insult to Cats and Dogs 3: Paws Unite. The only film that I think could ever possibly, maybe stand up to this one is Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. Cinema can end now, it can't get any better, go home everyone.

Family Fun
clewispurvis24 October 2020
The reviews for this film are the most unfair I have ever seen. It is a bit of fun with talking animals. It has a nice story line, good characters, some laugh out loud moments and a nice ending. As long as you don't take the film seriously it has entertainment value.

"Boring is Good" pretty much sums it up.
ben-821464 October 2020
Flat, cardboard cut-out voice acting. Way too much dialogue for a kids movie. A plot that takes three quarters of the film to get to the point. Obvious puppet paws. What's not to love? :'(

Boring Money Milker That Relies Too Much On Gross Humor
jeremycrimsonfox21 October 2020
Yeah, I was shocked that this movie was even a thing, and seeing the trailer, and the film, I am shocked at how horrible a cash grab this DTV film is. The film has a good plot, Roger and Gwen are two monitors for Furry Animal Rivarly Termination, or F.A.R.T. for short, and they have to stop a bird from starting a new war between cats and dog, but sadly, this goes into a boring film that gets preachy about reliance of technology. However, if it has one thing it relies too much on, is gross humor. While the first two films had those, at least it was used sparingly in those, but here? From a scene of a dog wearing a diaper (possibly exposing the kids it was aimed at to diaper fetish), to references to number two, the film relies way too much on the gross-out humor to the point where it's not funny. Also, the human scenes are boring, and the editing is not as good as its predecessors (although the latter is possibly due to the film being released directly to video, which is how most bad films are released). I recommend avoiding this one like a dog with rabies and stick with the first film.

Terrible even for its genre
me-120-6840083 October 2020
I took my 5yo daughter to see this because she is crazy about any film with animals. Unfortunately it was such a bad film that it didn't hold her attention and she was bored. Other kids in the cinema were restless too.

It has no real storyline, terrible acting, terrible CGI and it just fell so far short of what we expect from kids animal films these days. Total waste of time and money.

Pawget it.
kjjames815 October 2020
I really enjoyed the first one. The second movie was bearable, it had it's faults but still watchable. This third outing just shows they should have stopped the series with the second movie. This has been brought on for obvious reasons, since we are all in some sort of lockdown. The fault here is firstly effects 're really bad, even for a children's film the effects are bad. The story was just okay and I do mean just okay. Very young children who will.not be bothered about the effects may enjoy it. Young children may find the film to cheap to enjoy but adults will just cringe at it. Let's just say it's okay.

This is definitely not a action film! Full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Not recommended!
kwenchow22 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film start with the introduction of the so called "FART" organization, and the introduction of a dog "Roger" and his owner "Max" scene! As turnout, this film is about Roger and a cat "Gwen" need to team up to stop a parrot "Pablo" from transmitting the signal to manipulate cats and dogs! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the animals talking scene, overuse of the playing dumb scene, overuse of the drinking scene, and overuse of the playing with phone scene! Make the film unwatchable! Barely intense scene is, Roger fighting with the lizard "Zeke"! At the end, Pablo abort his sinister plan, but Zeke insist! Zeke eventually been take down! That's it! Wasting time to watch!

Two hours of my life that I will never get back.
aparker-093341 November 2020
My 4 year old son turned to me and said "daddy, we should have stayed at home" after around 20 minutes. How i wish I had taken his advice. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep for around 10 minutes. Potentially THE most turgid movie I have seen since I was made to watch a film with Britney Spears in it circa 1998! Who did i direct my request for a full refund to?

Best movie in the franchise. Better than endgame?
MehThePotato24 October 2020
To be fair, you must have a very high IQ to understand Cats and Dogs 3. Humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid understanding of theoretical physics, most jokes will go through the typical viewer's head. There is also the perspective of Pablo the parakeet that cleverly interwoven into his characterization; his personal philosophy is largely based on the literature of Narodnaya Volya. The fans understand these things; They have the brainpower to really appreciate the depth of these jokes, to realize that they are not only funny, but they say something profound about life. As a consequence, people who don't like Cats and Dogs 3 are really dumb; of course, they would not appreciate it. I'm grinning right now imagining one of those confused norms scratching his head in confusion as Scott Bindley's genius wits unfold on the big screen.

Nice special effects, nothing else special
ewok27113 December 2020
A predictable plot with some awkward acting can't be weighed against the quite well-done special effects of the animals talking. Obviously, as stated by others here, humour is a bit lacking in this 3rd episode, but overall they tried their best and gave me and my 9y old son a pleasant afternoon out in these miserable covid days

technology which is anti technology
omonkins19 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It felt as though the entire message of the film was to not let kids use phones, which isn't a message all parents share. This feels pretty drilled into the viewer throughout. It felt a lot like when our parents would tell us to stop playing video games or watching television, when many of us now earn more than them working in television and the video games industry. For me it felt like an poor message for children and a bit of a reach if that, and it didn't stay true to the brand of the original movie. Perhaps a kids film, but not one for nostalgia.

I did appreciate the inclusion of birds and a new enemy, but neither side felt technologically advanced enough. I guess i wanted to feel as shocked as i did when i watched the first film with animals doing the impossible, which may not have been attainable at this point. Whatever the case, i hope everyone had a great time filming it and at no point does it feel like any animals were pushed too far which is a priority.
