The Trouble with Jerry
JordanThomasHall29 January 2019
Jerry Arden (impersonation comic character actor Lennie Weinrib), delivery boy for the Oakdell Tailor Shop tries to impress Peter with his impersonations of celebrities in hopes of breaking into show business. Mary reminds Peter of how Jerry is very much like him when he tried to get his break in entertainment. He takes on Jerry as a protege and begins showing him some of the nuances of being a comedian. Jerry's concerned fiancee Janet (Nancy Rennick) talks with Mary about how hard she's worked for five years while Jerry has gone to dental school, and how she's afraid he'll leave her for a more attractive woman in the nightclub scene. Peter uses a hopeful speech to Stevie about how nice dentistry would be as a profession when he grows up to affect Jerry who is in the room. When Jerry concedes about dental school Peter says he should quit the act. However, Jerry gets a phone call meant for Peter from Marlo Briggs (William Woodson), producer of "The Steve Allen Show" about stepping in for someone who canceled on them. He impersonates Peter's voice to suggest Jerry to Marlo. Peter is upset when he quickly figures out what happened. However, Jerry's impersonations are a hit on the show. He goes to Peter's house from the studio with the sexy Roxanne Jones (Grace Lee Whitney, Star Trek franchise). Janet is there and storms out mad. Mary feels everything can be saved by giving Jerry "a shot of his own medicine", but it ends on an unexpected twist.
