HBO Perry Mason series should have started here....
ttimgents7 March 2023
Having watched only two episodes of Season 1, I would say that this Season 2 episode is where the HBO Perry Mason series should have begun. This is what I had been hoping to see when I tried out Season 1 - visually and story-wise.

I only watched the first two episodes of Perry Mason Season 1 and could get no further. It seemed that the series did not need to reach that far back into Perry Mason's (the character) origins other than buy flashback. Regarding Season 1 photography and production values: they seemed a bit ugly, did not draw me in at all.

Before continuing to watch Season 2, Episode 2, I will return to Season 1 and give it another try. Regarding the remainder of Season 2, I hope it will fulfill the promise of its Episode 1. (Tjn - 03/07/2023)

Chapter Nine
Prismark102 May 2023
The second season of Perry Mason, three years after the end of the first series.

With Perry now established as a lawyer. There is no need for an origins story.

It looked very sleek and opulent, like some of the wealthy people featured in the opener.

However It really did move at a snail's place albeit a moody one.

It opens with a casino barge being set on fire. The act initiated by spoilt rich kid Brooks McCutcheon. His father a business mogul disapproves of his son's hare brained business ventures. He should stick to soup kitchens. The episode ends with Brook's death.

In the meantime Perry is dealing with civil lawsuits. He successfully represented a store owner Sunny Gryce who sued his former employee who started up a rival business venture.

The first episode already dangles at least three prospective storylines for the season's main arc.

It is clear after Perry's conversation with Hamilton Burger. This is going to be a cynical take on the justice system.

I fell asleep

I put this episode on twice, and both times I fell asleep. It's beyond boring with no actual content the entire episode. Just a big sorta bang at the end. The entire episode was a waste of my time and I regret putting on this second season. It's too old school and too slow for my liking. I wouldn't recommend to anyone looking to watch a show right now on their television. It's honestly one of the worst episodes I have seen in a very very long time. Literally one of the absolute worst things. I would rather watch paint dry then try watching this episode over again so I will not continue watching this show.
