I see dead people
johno-2110 September 2008
I saw this last month at the 2008 Palm Springs International Short Fest. Writer/director Joey de Paolo filmed this comedy/horror short as his senior thesis film at NYU. This is his third short along with The Warth of Norm Polanski and My, Robot. This is a well produced film with a great cast and excellent cinematography from Marcelo Duarte Alfaro and production design from Lillian Cohen. I wasn't that crazy over this story but there is no denying that de Paolo has a potential future as a filmmaker in features or in television. This is a story about an overworked pathologist Scott Stevens (Carter Roy) who converses with the bodies in the hospital morgue and they have become more of his life than living people. The more his living co-workers try to bring him into the world of the living the more the dead try to bring him into their world. Thomas J. Pilutik as Vince and Christina Zorich as Rebecca are good in their roles but along with Roy the films most interesting and comical stars are character actors Mary Ellen Ashley as Doris and Skippy D as Bob. I would give this a 7.0 out of 10.
