Feels like a Part 1
tristan_193 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has some interesting concepts, but it is unfinished... It does feel a bit like Start to Finish in season 6 or Morning Star last season. And with some of the same vibes as well, as walkers invade Alexandria.

Now, Leah... She makes one hell of an antagonist. What a shot at the end. Pope is dead, but surely she will continue to cause trouble. Makes sense tho. These people are her family, as Maggie and co are Daryl's.

Awesome to see Judith and Gracie work together. Rosita is one hell of a fighter. Goddamn.

Hoping episode 9 has the No Way Out effect, as our characters are pretty much all standing in precarious situations. Of course, Maggie, Negan, Elijah and Gabriel will keep fighting. I wouldn't think somebody was killed at the end, but you never know.

Not Satisfied

Warning: Spoilers
Whilst I liked the direction that the episode took, like last weeks episode I felt as though something was missing. We're 8 episodes in, only 16 episodes left and none of the main characters have been killed off. There's a lot of major characters they've created and neglected, done barely anything with this season e.g Luke, Lydia. The writers need to have a little fun and start to take some risks, it's time to kill some characters off, there's plenty to choose from. The Walking Dead creating minor characters and killing them off a few episodes later is standard procedure, predictable and just boring. Yawn. I think the writers are playing it far too safe considering it's the final season.

Overall the season has been strong, but after last weeks slow episode, I expected a much faster and action packed episode. It was an entertaining instalment but it was far too slow for a mid-season finale. What happened with Leah and Daryl was very interesting to watch and I was rather surprised with Leah's decision to not go with Daryl. I liked how Pope didn't get a glamourised death, it was sudden and felt more impactful because of this. I found him to be an interesting but underwhelming adversary. It seems that Leah is the real threat.

I was disappointed that the commonwealth story arc did not feature in the episode. I'm glad that the plot filler with the reapers is coming to an end however I am excited to see what will happen with Daryl and Leah. I'm still a massive fan of the show and always will be. I am still excited to watch every week and I'm very excited to see what's going to happen with our group of survivors, Alexandria and the Commonwealth.

There's a storm coming

Warning: Spoilers
Great episode. There's a lot of Reapers story development in this, that sadly ended on a classic TWD cliffhanger which I'm not a huge fan of. The final season overall is shaping up to be incredible. Can't wait to see the conclusion.

As for the person attempting to review bomb it; just stop watching if you don't like it. No reason to be butthurt over people enjoying the episode or the show in general. ;)

One of the greatest episodes (of the series?)
Splarke223 October 2021
Wow, 11x08 is an absolutely incredible episode that keeps you on the edge of your seat for most of it. This is the first episode in a long time where I really felt the tension & anticipation of what's to come. The Alexandria stuff gave me massive 6x08 vibes. Everything that happened with the Reapers & Daryl/Maggie was simply EPIC. This was a great Part 1 finale that has me extremely excited for Part 2!

Reapers vs Whisperers
solojere3 October 2021
In this, episode Maggie and Negan go full whisperers against the reapers. I thought this episode was amazing. Seeing Negan and Maggie work together and using the whisperers' strategy against this new enemy. It also is interesting to see the heroes starting to become the thing they hated last season. And it is a reminder that even the good guys can lose their humanity. There are also some great Daryl and Judith scenes. The stakes keep getting raised higher, and I can't wait to see how this final season goes.

Loved the episode, but wish there wasn't a Cliffhanger
revieweranarchy753 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everything about this episode was great and action packed, and I especially loved the explosion sequences.

Pope being killed was satisfying and I understand that with Leah killing him it had to be somewhat quick, since i've never seen Pope in a hand to hand fight.

I really wish they didn't cut it off at the fireworks sequence, but if next episode is like "No Way Home" I think it will be worth it.

I think people expected a little TOO much
tomiscool123453 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode. Both the Meridian & Alexandria scenes kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I think most people are disappointed in the cliffhanger, but surely that was a given? Season 2, 3, 6, 8, 9 & 10 midseason finales have all ended on cliffhangers, leaving us anticipating whats next & picking up right where we left off. This season is no different.

I actually liked how quick Pope died, because it completely contrasted everything he was saying. When it happened with Beta, I was so mad, because Beta was always shown as the formidable force. It was annoying that he got taken out so easily. With Pope, it's almost symbolic, as that man general believed that he was God. He felt God's power through him & believed he would be protected by that, as he was the "chosen one". Having him be taken out in such a regular manner to others on this show is smart. No huge flashy death. No intense fight scene where he gets a few stabs & slices in first. Simply just dying like any average joe.

Rosita was phenomenal this episode & Cailey's acting once again was fantastic. Obviously theres a few things I would change throughout, but overall, I really liked this episode. Probably tied with episode 6 as my favourite of the season so far.

This chapter was done in a very good way that should be highlighted.
Mappers-Buckles4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In my opinion it was a great chapter. The realization of the direction was spectacular, the point of the plot is attractive and develops in a good way.

This chapter is the release of chapter 11 X 07 (the previous chapter was fully developed so it is of total importance for the continuation of the plot).

Maggie and Negan were amazing in this chapter handling the horde of walkers acting as the whisperers, it was a quick and tense chapter, leaves much to talk about especially because it is a supporting chapter for chapter 11 X 09. But to be honest Pope's death was similar to Beta's, his death was very quick and simple, but ultimately Pope is not a god and in the comics it didn't matter so the rest will have to do with the Commowhealt, Eugene is about to confess the location of Alenxandria.

Congratulations to the cast of The Walking Dead. Keep it up, now wait until February.

(from here you can stop reading if you want, and the following has nothing to do with the chapter).

I read some reviews which I think are good, bad or very stupid (no offense).

There are some very good reviews that have high and low grades, everyone has the right to say and think what they believe, to believe that a chapter has high grade and that they are pure Bots is very ridiculous, In addition to becoming rude or narcissistic just to incite hate this evil, this is a page of public opinions on professional reviews not a page to cause Hate and be childish. Just if you hate the show so much, stop throwing it away and just give negative reviews just because you don't look like you hate the show. This series still has a lot of fans and it's going to have more people watching it because it's climaxing, saying that their last season is bad is kind of ungrateful because it's just going to chapter 8, 16 chapters are missing, I didn't want to write this but it was necessary to see so many people without reasoning acting childish. In summary: Everyone has the right to give10 stars if they want to, this is a page to say what you want, so it is totally unnecessary to make a criticism by throwing offensive and disrespectful words at other users for it.

Good.

Warning: Spoilers
You should not perceive this episode as a last one of the season. For a mid-season episode, it is very good. Loved the fight of the Reapers, although wanted more Negan's screen-time. Pope's death, Gabriel's epic AWP mode, Maggie's car scene were cool. Needed more Alexandria action tho, it missed something. Hopefully we'll see it in the opener of 11B. Well done, The walking dead!

A decent episode
Raccoonologist9 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First, right out of the bat, the end of pop's was really an underwhelming ending for him, I expected much from him but this whole events and building was just to serve another characters choices, secondly I did like the tension that have been made from Negan and his fellow going straight to the mines, also, the side plot of the house being broke to was weird, like what was the point of Rozita going out and killing all these zombies, and then we comeback next and find out that they just came back to the same point they were in? I don't understand about these weird direction choices, but overall, this season still holdup as a good season and I hope it continues at this level of quality.

For Blood is an eye pleasing episode that's full of action and great storytelling, brilliant from start to finish
Holt3444 October 2021
Episode 11.08 titled "For Blood" is a direct follow-up to episode 11.07, the Reapers storyline and the Alexandria storyline is continued in a major way. Episode eight has The Reapers defend Meridian from an incoming herd; Pope suspects Maggie is behind the attack, while Daryl treads carefully; Alexandrians scramble to protect themselves when a violent storm leaves them vulnerable to walkers. I think the editing and pacing was perfect in this episode, probably among the best of the season as both perspective kept things tense and there were also some nice transitions. So was the writing, Erik Mountain whom penned the script of 11.08 did a great job. He writes the strategy, action and the characters so well. Overseen by Angela Kang, the writing for this episode is some of the season's best, I didn't expect it to be this good. The episode uses the big budget wisely, making it brilliant both technically and visually.

Sharat Raju returns to direct 11.08 after having directed the previous episode, his direction and vision was honestly brilliant and such a huge step up from the previous episode. Raju shows once again how to make an immersive viewing experience. The cinematography is truly breathtaking and incredible, the way it was shot with the sets, just wow. Art and production design is brilliant. Sharat Raju shows how talented he are and I hope he gets to direct more episodes of this final season as he has this grand vision and executes it perfectly. The close ups in dialogue is something I personally like. The musical score is once again brilliant, balancing it out nicely and contributing so much to the immersion and such. Superb sound design. It's one of many things on the technical side of things that the show is doing a phenomenal job at.

With it being an action heavy episode, I would still say there were a couple of great performances. But there were mostly bad ass moments where the characters shined with their abilities and skills. Still, I found performances like: Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Ritchie Coster as Pope and Lynn Collins as Leah Shaw to be the best. Collins probably even gave her best performance as Leah. Honorable mentions are Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa in how she shows once again what a bad ass she is, it's just nice to see the writers acknowledging her past and skills, Abraham even said multiple times how she was one of the best in killing walkers and seeing Rosita Espinosa back as her old self is a blessing.

"For Blood" has lots of things that fans of The Walking Dead will like. Following the Reapers storyline and Alexandria storyline, the former coming full circle as Maggie leads the attack on Meridian. Meanwhile in Alexandria, we get to see almost everyone or even every single person in the settlement. I like it when all the characters share screen time together but there's a downside to it, the minimal screen time, but it's worth it. Though episode 9 will be directly following the storylines that happened in this episode, I can just say that I loved this episode and how unpredictable it was. Angela Kang and her writers went in the right direction with the Reapers storyline, something I didn't think they would. For the people who like action and lots of zombie gore, bad ass character moments and just a visually stunning episode. It's impossible to stop watching and after all the build up, we get a phenomenal episode that I can say is worth the 10/10 rating.

Brainless writing
gerardchalaux10 July 2022
Is it really that hard to use logic when writing a show like this? It's really annoying.

Apparently zombies are immune to storms, they can smell and hear through it and find the people inside the house, and these people don't know how to block doors, there's furniture all around them yet they choose to use their bodies! Also, what's the deal with not preparing houses against zombies? Have they learnt nothing? They placed a couple wooden boards over the windows leaving huge gaps, which they could use to kill the zombies with a spear, but no, apparently it's all so scary they just give up and let them all in. Anyway, what was the deal with Rosita clearing 20 zombies in 20 seconds like a spartan soldier but then just letting another horde approach?

All these inconsistencies and brainless writing really pisses me off.

Slowly suffocating
veronicabrown9312 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with all the negative reviews more than the positive. Especially the one from @paulaburr nailed it to me.

The final season should start to give us some answers. Instead of planning 168 spin offs. This is like a small creek silently flowing into the ocean and no one will care about anything anymore. Instead of putting all efforts in a proper story and give people actual answers about what happened to the show's lead character Rick Grimes.

I don't care about any character who appeared after season 8 or something. Why would I want to watch Yumiko doing anything. Or the numb girl being in a random place with an even more random guy and a bunch of Tarzans?

Why would I feel frightened about any person in the commonwealth? Why would I care about Leah who is a random pop up of a character that was already random in her origins episode?

Instead of going back to the shows roots.

It is so generic and boring. Why is Lydia still alive ? Who needs her ?

Ezekiel ? He is just a waste of money too. This show has always been full of flaws. Yeah. Let's have a cgi tiger and then kill him off, because we noticed it is actually work to have it all the time.

Let's have a bad guy (Negan) and have him chased for 20 years, with no real payoff. Let's squeeze the tube really hard.

How about a mission in the city or something or just Rick showing up again and bringing back some real horror and action ?

The dialogues are horrible, the acting is soap opera like and the settings uninspired.

People are watching this for 11 years now and you couldn't come up with more than THAT ?

This is a poor ending for that show. I know it's not the actual finale. I had hopes for that season. But no. They rather have fake raters and fool the audience until the end.

I feel like there are only like 200 people left watching that show.

And yeah, Daryl being captured for the 50est time. Wow. They should do bondage with him to at least at something new to it.

It is as if 12 year olds write the plays for that.

I hope Darabont himself will do a reboot some day.

Sad sad sad. :(

This episode was dope. Probably one of my favorite of season 11 with 11x02, 11x05 and 11x06. I loved every minute of it, even I expected a major death (Gabriel or Rosita) but it doesn't matter. I love them so much.

I hope 11B will start with a bang !

The best season in a long long time
brianearley253 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Kills me that others asked for more action and they're giving it to us and still some complain. Just enjoy it. Pope died easily because he "didn't see the enemy coming". I knew he was going to die when he said "in every war there's sacrifice". I also knew Lisa was going to run the reapers. It was all set up perfect. This season is amazing!! I think what would just be ultimate for me is if somehow Maggie and Negan end up getting all the sexual tension out of the way and hook up lol. Just enjoy the final ride. I have a feeling we are going to get a few surprises.

A Fantastically Thrilling Episode
amongpixels3 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was a thrilling, heart-pounding, tension-filled episode from beginning to end. It balanced two engaging storylines, the perfect amount of time given to each. The defence of Alexandria was emotionally resonate in not only seeing our characters hold off what is, tragically, a shell of of their former home, but also the particularly sweet moment between Virgil and Judith. Meanwhile, the siege of Meridian was so entertaining to see come together. Daryl, Leah, Negan, Gabriel and Maggie all made exciting advancements, including using Whisperer tactics, Daryl helping Maggie from the inside, and Leah finally choosing a side. The death of Pope was surprising yet satisfying, and Leah becoming a full-fledged antagonist was refreshing to see, rather than her becoming a more typical love interest. Her motivations were well established for her to make this turn and side with her own family. This was a full-throttle, great culmination of 11A and totally left me excited for more.

Feel like their going for a 'Start to finish' feel on this episode...
sjbushby-606803 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all I wanna say I can tell people are gonna hate on this episode like they did with season 6 episode 8, mainly because of the cliffhanger at the end, the short death of Pope and Negan's screen time. Personally I do not care about any of these things since thinking it over after watching I believe I have an idea of why they made the choice to do these things and why I think it is a good thing and a great setup to the next episode, even if it is a long wait. Pope did not need to have a long flashy fight scene before his death because the main purpose of it was to portray Leah and her stepping up and doing what she believes she has to do for her family, and the conflict between it and Daryl. The cliffhanger and little amount of screen time for Negan bugged me a little at first, but after thinking it over I feel like the writers are going for a 'No Way Out' type episode as an opener for the next section of the season. I think the reason Negan did not get much screen time is because we will be shown lots of his and Maggie's perspective in the following episode which will build up their arc even more, because I highly doubt the writers would be stupid enough to kill the two characters who have created one of the biggest arcs so far this season. I saw someone say that the reapers were seen as "weak" in this episode but I think the following episode will show some great combat scenes as Maggie, Negan and Gabriel are trying to escape with the supplies and we can see more of the remaining reapers skill sets like what we have already seen earlier on in the season. I really feel as if they are going for a 'Start to finish' feel for this episode to build up for the next episode as much as they can. The show runners have done this before in season 6 episode 8, which was seen as a "weak mid season finale" by some fans and ratings, also containing a cliffhanger as Rick and the others walk out into the herd, but then they gave us one of the best next episodes in the show, "No Way Out",which the previous episode had set up perfectly for. People need to just wait and think things through before they critique stuff, and know that there doesn't have to be a certain structure in every season with an insane midseason finale to end the first half of the season. Overall I really enjoyed this episode and I really do hope they are going for a "No Way Out" feel for the next episode with another amazing soundtrack to top it all off. This season has been so so good so far, for me it feels like the old Walking Dead is back despite Rick not being in it, the writing is once again so good and strong, there are so many varying strong character and plot arcs already brewing in the storyline which I'm sure will only get better and better as the season progresses, the tension, horror, and the brutality of human choices have been introduced again, and example of this being when the group left Gage to die in episode 2, which is the reason why I loved the show so much in the first place and the way they explored the whole topic of what makes us humane as people, and finally the references made to plots and characters in the previous seasons has been an extra touch which I am really glad they added. Didn't think I was gonna write this much but this season has been great so far. Also as much as I loved the cinematography and the grain used in the early seasons the visuals and setting this season are incredible. 10/10. In my opinion if they have gone for a "No Way Out" feel for the next episode then The Walking Dead is back for me.

The return
zilicivan-734134 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Truly enjoying the show lately and especially hyped for the next half season for the return of Rick and Michonne. While many say Rick isn't returning I think that is a huge setup by AMC for him to return sometime soon because if he is not returning they wouldnt also make Michonne absent for no reason. What iI think is gonna happen is that the door of the basement in which Judith and Gracey are trapped in awaiting certain death are gonna be opened by either Rick or Michonne.

hot air
paulaburr-6 October 2021
This show went from something that was great over to a bunch of people looking for food all the time and walking through woods. They have meetings and talk about what ? 'We need food'. Bla bla. They should all be super fat.

What an empty vehicle that show has become. Beyond comprehension. Why is anyone doing what they do ? I really don't get it. Listening to Kang afterwards makes me constantly angry. When she explains all her little ideas. What she talks about should be maybe 10% of the actual content. Some things are nice ideas, but it's not a flagship. How can anyone at AMC keep going like that ?

You seriously established Leah as a character, suggesting us to care about, because she had one episode with Daryl 50 years ago, which was already back then pure nonsense. It was trying out if people would like to see Daryl encountering someone and have a romantic thing.

And now you take that and set it up as one of the main themes of the shows final ? Are you okay ?!

Bro..

So it's food, unimportant characters, woods, no plot and rain.

That's it. What could we write now ? Oh yeah, I know. You know what would be super cool ? If it rains O.o

People looking for burgers and rain.

Thanks AMC and Kang. You should all reconsider your careers.

Cheap midseason.
Glodar3224 October 2021
Low effort for midseason episode, one side of episode was just big filler, and other side while decent not, as good as it could be, felt cheap and without good payoff. Instead just cliffhanger.

Overall still decent but it had way more potential.

Warning: Spoilers
It was an excellent episode if you get past the fact they ended on a major cliff hanger. I was expecting the Reapers story arch to wrap up and the Commonwealth to show up at Alexandria. I didn't expect Pope to die so quickly but you almost have to catch him off guard because I don't think even Darrel could take him. I am kinda curious what's going to happen to Dog now that Leia is a bad guy! I can't wait until February!

Why r people who give a 10 to this episode? The reapers are so weak after the 3rd episode, and in the mid season even more. It ends with a cliffhanger, so we have a little more reaper arc.
