At this stage TV ratings were published with only the Network Top 20, meaning programmes on the minority channel of BBC2 were extremely unlikely to feature. The release of Top 10s per channel began in 1981.
The interview with Little & Large is slightly different to most of Des's interviews with comedians, particularly for this period in the series. While some discussion areas and moments are clearly pre-arranged (such as the orchestra having the music ready for Syd to sing to, or Des having a photograph of Syd as a child that is shown onscreen) most of the interview is general chat.
Whereas Des's questions for comedians at this time were usually pre-planned feeds for the comedians to go into a routine, for long stretches Syd and Eddie are just talking normally, presumably because the majority of their act was based around Syd being interrupted and not being able to speak - something that wouldn't translate to an interview situation. The end result is that the show-closing double act, while getting some laughs, go out without really performing any comic routines.
