- The gang is shocked when Robin announces that Gisborne is joining their fight against Isabella, but can their uneasy truce survive? Robin and Gisborne then travel to York to save their half-brother Archer from execution, and find that he has made a formidable enemy in the Sheriff of York.—Anonymous
- Guy and Robin are riding back to the camp. Guy provokes Robin into yet another fistfight, and the gang notice the scuffle. Much tries to shoot Guy, but Robin yanks him out of the way, and the gang are surprised and outraged to find out that Guy is going to join them. Little John is the most outraged. Robin and Guy soon head off to York to free Archer.
Isabella has an unnamed guard report to him about the success of some toll collection by a man named Lipscomb. She expects them to watch out for Robin Hood.
In York, Archer is introduced; he is a dashing rogue who bribes the guards regularly to sneak in and out, and smuggle food into their cell. He also has an affair with Gweneth, the wife of the Sheriff of York. Archer convinces Gweneth to try and secure a pardon for Archer. It turns out that Archer is in prison because he promised to deliver exotic weapons from the Orient to the Sheriff's cousin, but failed to deliver. Archer, however, wants to convince the Sheriff of York that he can still be useful.
Robin and Guy rob the toll gate guard Lipscomb on their way to York to get some money. However, this turns out to be a bit of a problem as Lipscomb goes back to report to Isabella about Robin heading to York; she struggles to figure out why they're going there, and why they're working together, but tells the unnamed guard to head to York and warn the Sheriff there about Robin and Guy.
The rest of the gang argues about the day's events. Little John throws a temper tantrum and storms off, refusing to accept that Robin and Guy are allies now. Soon afterwards, Allan goes off to look for John when he doesn't return.
Archer, to convince the Sheriff, performs a simple parlor trick. He tells him that he can perform alchemy, turning metals into gold. To demonstrate this, he takes a simple iron nail from a guard, puts it on a plate, pours some magnesium flash powder on it and ignites it. In the bright flash, he quickly replaces the nail with a tiny nugget of gold while nobody is looking. The Sheriff is impressed, and implicitly agrees not to execute Archer for now.
Robin and Guy begin to sneak in and look for Archer, who takes the opportunity knocks out a guard escorting him somewhere and tries to escape. He is found by Gweneth, who is lusting for him and seduces him. However, the Sheriff's men realize the gold nugget is not real gold, and thus they find Archer and Gweneth lying in bed. They manage to convince the Sheriff that Archer forced her to have sex with him, saving the woman, but scheduling Archer for execution anyway.
Allan finds Little John and they argue for a while. Suddenly, Isabella's soldiers appear and after a brief fight, subdue John; Allan manages to hide. He goes after Little John and saves him. All is well and they return to the gang.
Robin and Guy discuss how to get Archer out of prison. Robin thinks of a plan to put Guy in prison, where he can get Archer and then have Robin break them out, but Guy doesn't trust Robin, and would prefer Robin to be the one getting arrested. Eventually, since nobody cares about the pub brawl developing around them, Robin goes ahead and throws something at one of the Sheriff's guards, hoping this is enough to get arrested. Guy snickers and is about to leave, but is shocked to find that the guards think he did it and arrest him instead.
The gang agree that they must go and warn Robin and Guy about Isabella and her soldiers.
Guy is thrown into the crowded prison cell which appears to house all of York's prisoners. After a while, Guy finds out which one of them is Archer.
Robin knocks out a rich man and steals his expensive clothes, then goes to the Sheriff of York and persuades him with a little "monetary incentive" that Guy was just drunk and didn't really commit a serious crime. The Sheriff agrees to let Guy go and lets Robin go to the prison to pick Guy up himself. Robin comes down to the cell and tries to bribe the guard to let Archer go as well. The guard takes their money and then refuses, so they just knock him out. Archer, however, refuses to leave unless the other prisoners can go as well (some of whom are old and infirm). Robin agrees.
The gang ambushes Isabella and her soldiers, subduing them and forcing Isabella to retreat while they take the horses. However, Isabella's unnamed guard had arrived in York in advance and, by now, has managed to warn the Sheriff of York about Robin and Guy. Thus, the Sheriff orders his guards to seize them.
Robin, Guy, Archer and the prisoners try to escape. Initially they seem like they might succeed, but the old man who is Archer's best friend slows them down quite a bit. The guards catch up and shoot the old prisoner dead, then corner the heroes in the Sheriff's room. As Isabella's guard announces that he wishes to take Robin and Guy alive (offering a sum of money to the Sheriff for them if they take them alive), Archer takes Robin hostage and wants the Sheriff to let him go, or he'll kill Robin. However, the Sheriff simply tells Isabella's guard that he wants the three men dead and that Isabella can keep her money; more guards arrive to surround Archer, and they are captured.
As they are about to be executed, the rest of the gang arrives. Thinking about how they could free Robin, Guy and Archer, Gweneth has one of her servants create a distraction, hoping Archer can seize the chance to escape. The gang uses this convenient coincidence to free Robin and Archer, then Guy; as they retreat, Little John gets into a bit of a sticky spot, and Guy saves him, just so that any trust issues are resolved.
Archer goes off alone, but is cornered by Isabella's guard. Gweneth begs him not to kill Archer, as the man demands Archer tell him where Robin Hood is. Turns out he is right behind him, as Robin arrives and shoots the man dead.
In the final scenes, Archer abandons both Gweneth and the gang afterwards, refusing to join Robin in his struggle. The Sheriff of York takes the corpse of Isabella's man back to Nottingham, telling her about what happened and warning her to keep the Hood situation under control better. Robin and Kate discuss the need to accept Guy into the gang. Finally, Archer is seen heading towards Nottingham.
