- Benny Ninja is back to educate the girls about posing, but one girls takes contorting her body a little too far.
- This week kicks off at the end of last week's panel. The girls come home and discover Marjorie's winning picture displayed on the wall. As Tyra explained, for this season the photo of the model that is called first will be displayed in the house all week. Marjorie blushes around the girls but admits, "It does really feel good to have my name called first."
Nikeysha also reflects about her behavior at panel and Tyra's scolding. "I definitely say that the judges got the wrong impression of me. I came off rude. Next time I'm gonna shut up."
Tyra Mail! "Don't get it twisted. Will you bend over backwards to be on top? Love, Tyra"
The next day, the girls head out to their challenge where they find Benny Ninja, posing in vogue on top of a black box. He tells the girls, "Today striking killer poses is the name of the game. Sometimes this requires you to think outside the box. But other times it requires you to think inside the box."
He climbs down from the black box and turns it around to reveal a model, contorted inside. It's Bree Robertson, an Australian model and entertainer, who is known worldwide as an extreme poser.
The girls are put to the test. Long red fabric tubes hang from the ceiling and the girls strike a pose from within. Benny critiques the girls. Clark is good but needs to work on her face. Sheena works it and Benny gives kudos, "This is exactly what I'm talking about." Hannah is struggling. He tells her, "You're lost in translation."
Tyra Mail! "Did you learn your lesson? If so, you have this one in the bag. Love, Tyra."
The girls head out to the pool and decide to play Truth or Dare. Sheena's up first and takes the dare, but warns, "No nudity." So instead, Elina asks her to dance for them and she does the funky chicken. In an interview she says, "I really feel like my hurdle in this competition is being more conscious of my sexual delivery. But I'm not hooch, I don't see myself as hooch."
Clark was dared to kiss Elina, who admitted last week she had a crush on Clark. Elina thought the kiss was amazing. Everyone is laughing and jokes that Clark will be a lesbian by the end of the show. Well, everyone but Hannah. She complains, "I don't know why the girls are so sexual. I come from a small town and it's a bit extreme for my taste. I wouldn't really hang out with characters like Elina, Sheena, or Isis, because she's a transgender."
Back in the pool, Isis is now the center of attention. She backs up to go toward the wall, but as she gets near the other girls, Hannah suddenly pushes her away. It's very obvious and awkward. Isis says, "I don't think the claws are out yet, but the cat might be scratching at the door a little bit."
Later inside, Sheena talks with Brittany and Hannah. She tells Hannah that at first she had a really good impression of her but was taken aback when she pushed Isis. Hannah tries to explain that she just doesn't like when people come and dance up on her and says that she's the "stereotypical white person." Brittany asks her to further explain. "I don't like rap music. I'm not really loud. I don't walk in a room and say, 'Heyyyy...'"
Both Sheena and Brittany take offense. Sheena asks Hannah to be more conscious about what she says. But then Hannah starts to cry. "I was just so frustrated because I felt like I was being honest." They console her but tell her to be careful about how she comes across. But the next day, as they explain the incident to Nikeysha and Josslyn, Brittany is much more upset. They are wary of Hannah's behavior and come to Isis's defense.
Speaking of Isis, we find her starting her daily ritual. In order to keep up her transition, she must take hormonal injections. She asks Analeigh to help distract her while she gives herself the injection. Sweet Analeigh makes funny faces and and chicken noises to keep her laughing. Analeigh says, "It's something that means so much to her, and to share it with her was such a personal moment."
Challenge time. The girls meet up with Benny Ninja again. He explains they will be auditioning for Tarina Tarantino, a jewelry and handbag designer. The challenge is to pose with her accessories. The model who inspires Tarina by using the pieces in the most innovative way will win a handbag full of goodies.
The girls take turns posing but they are mostly lackluster. Isis is still a bit nauseous from her shot, so she tries to concentrate on her face. Nikeysha really wants to win but as she goes out to the floor, she announces, "If I pee up myself, this is for you because I really have to use the bathroom." Tarina is not impressed by her statement nor her attempts at posing.
Elina is up next. In interview she mentions that posing is the thing that she really needs to work on the most, but as she takes center she strikes a fierce pose. Sheena is completely confident about what she's going to do. She immediately wraps her leg around her head and then sets the bag directly in front of her crotch. Both Tarina and Benny are shocked. "Designers don't really want to see their products in places where they are not meant to be."
At the end of the competition, Benny reminds the girls what he was looking for them to do: pose, sell the product, and inspire the client. He and Tarina give their critiques. They tell Isis she's stuck in her head, Nikeysha to remember to be professional, and warn Sheena to respect the product. And the winner is: Elina. They praise her for thinking outside the box. Elina is excited to win the first challenge.
Tyra Mail! "You wanna be on top? Well then you better start climbing that ladder."
Back at the house, Nikeysha and company are still complaining about Hannah. In the other room, Hannah is aware they are talking about her and doesn't think it's fair that they aren't letting her defend herself. But then, the girls call her in to confront her. Josslyn asks her, "Are you prejudiced? Do you have a problem with people of color?"
Hannah is completely taken aback. "Am I a racist?"
Josslyn doesn't back down and immediately says, "Yes." Still shocked and offended, Hannah denies it and excuses herself from the room, visibly upset. Marjorie tries to come to her defense, but Josslyn shuts her down too. In the other room, Analeigh tries to comfort Hannah. Hannah cries to the camera, "I can't believe they are referring to me as a racist. Wow, that's not very nice."
(In a normal case, I probably wouldn't talk about the commercial, but when we cut to Whitney's "My Life as a Cover Girl," you can't help but remember Whitney and Dominique's fight about race... and laugh. Too bad Hannah doesn't have a BBF to pull out in her defense.)
The next day, McKey tells Hannah she felt sorry for her and that she feels like she's misunderstood. Hannah tells her, "That's like gang rape, or gang violence. Seriously, it's inappropriate."
The girls head out to their photo shoot. When they arrive, Mr. Jay greets them from up above, in a hot air balloon. He explains that the girls will be posing from a ladder hanging from the balloon. Mike Ruiz, who was the photographer for the superhero shoot in cycle 5, is back again. The girls head to hair and make-up.
Lauren Brie is up first. As they prepare for her, the wind kicks up and it becomes too dangerous to hang from the ladder. So instead, they hang the ladder from a crane, and later they'll digitally composite the balloon into the picture.
Jay is impressed with Lauren Brie. He claims, "That is gorgeous. It's Dior." Next is Elina, who also looks stunning. Jay calls her "an ethereal quality." Although Analeigh is told to use her skating skills, she gets nervous and forgets to relax her face. Sheena puts too much sex into her photos, Isis overthinks it, and Nikeysha keeps flashing the camera as the wind blows her dress. Brittany is beautiful but can't harness her power, and Josslyn gives Lauren Brie a run for her money. Hannah is told to give it more shape. Samantha looked great but didn't work her garment and McKey didn't keep her poses long enough. Marjorie pulls off gorgeous shots with ease.
Time for the panel. Tyra introduces the judges and prizes. She points out that Ms. Jay's bling is now 13, and the number will count down to the end. Tarina is back as the guest judge.
Analeigh is up first. Paulina and Nigel aren't crazy about it but Tarina thinks it's a perfect pose. For Samantha, the way the dress is hanging, it makes her look full-figured. Tyra warns that shiny fabric is not your friend, but they like her moves. Hannah looks very stiff and they tell her to soften her face. When Nikeysha comes up, Tyra asks her about her eating habits because is so thin. Nikeysha asks, "You think I'm too too thin?" All the judges agree and Jay tells her to eat a cheeseburger.
They love Lauren Brie's photo and Tyra echoes it could be a Dior campaign. They like Clark's picture but tell her to lay off on the bronzer. When Isis comes up, Tyra tells her she looks like she's in the third grade. She says, "Think like a model, not just like a normal girl." Nigel and Tyra love the picture but Paulina disagrees. They love Marjorie's photo and how confident she appears in the picture. Ms. Jay tells her to bring that confidence to judging. Elina's photo is stunning. Tyra says she looks like Angelina Jolie as a model.
When Sheena comes up, Jay tells her she looks like Victoria's Secretions. As they look at her picture, Paulina asks her if her breasts are fake. Sheena politely says, "No ma'am, they're just really big." Paulina is confused and says, "It's not about the size, it's about the placement." They think Brittany is pretty but average and are blown away by Josslyn again.
Just as they are about to send the girls out, Sheena speaks up. She admits that her breasts are fake and she was ashamed because she felt it was a foolish decision at a young age. Tyra stops her, saying that she knew her breasts were not real, but she thinks it's beautiful that she was honest about it.
And now here's the order: Lauren Brie is called first and told this is one of the best pictures in Top Model history. And then, Elina. Josslyn. Marjorie. McKey. Samantha. Sheena. Hannah. Clark. Brittany. Analeigh.
The final two: Nikeysha and Isis.
Nikeysha: Her film is mediocre but she's up there because she needs to learn to listen.
Isis: She slid from the top to the bottom. The judges are afraid to see such a difference and wonder if it's a fluke.
Whose name will be called?...Isis.
As Isis goes to get her photo, Nikeysha tries to explain herself. Tyra scolds her to let Isis have her moment.
As her final wish, Nikeysha asks if she can show Ms. Jay her walk. Ms. Jay tells her to speed it up. As the credits roll, Nikeysha keeps talking...
