They are often brief paranormal stories intended to scare you. Back in the ancient times, phones used to be attached to the wall. The biggest accessories to buy for the wall attached phone was the cord extender and the answering machine. You should know what the answering machine does and the cord extender allowed you to have a longer reach with your phone that was attached to the wall. Now you weren't just tied to the kitchen, you could also roam into the dining room while on the phone. Also, the internet wasn't a thing so if you wanted to know movie times, the weather, your horoscope, etc you had to call from your house phone. We found some weird numbers to call and some cursed numbers to call from these dark caveman-like times.
