The Village Hall opens its doors for the last time.

After only two series, the anthology series ends, in some style. It's 1975, and the War would have been fresh in the minds of many families, so there would have been an added poignancy with this episode. I'm sure the feeling of the characters would have been mirrored in society generally, those wanting to forget the War, their experiences and comrades, and those wanting to remember it, having felt part of something great. It was also fascinating that it highlighted those that had done well, and those that hadn't manage to be successful during peace time.

It is one of the best entries in the series, no wonder it was saved til last, fine performances, but it was actually the story of the showy Wally that got me, absolutely superb, Ian Hendry was excellent. As were Basil Henson and the always superb Cyril Luckham.

A series I really enjoyed. 9/10
