A classic and humored commercial, in my book. Mattar was amazing!

This little web advertisement for the Batata Show french fries went viral back when of its release in 2017 to the point of even getting response from comedians on YouTube. One example was Rafinha Bastos detailing the one-minute commercial on a 7-minute analysis - I watched it but can't remember much, probably his incendiary yet humored jokes weren't so good enough. Reason why people pick on this commercial it's not the product but its other main star: singer/actor Maurício Mattar appearance on it.

Yes, it's a low point in his resume, career was already way down after several years of success in telenovelas and he was missed from the little screen (and the big one too!). Then comes this short piece that got him briefly to a spotlight. And boy, it was fun but unlike detractors or people who laugh at other's people expenses, I find it funny beyond hysterical thanks to the script he was given; the use of a word that doesn't exist in the dictionary (now part of my vocabulary - it has something to do with the fry process); Mattar's interaction with a background noise cheer; and the theme song. The song! Too bad it didn't became a jingle so other artists could make their different covers on other ads; however, with the brand name along with the singer you can research the lyrics. It's just one line, repeated in a fun mode, very convidative for the product. Best case scenario Maurício could get a percentage of the royalties.

And you gotta admire the man because of the commercial, if you don't like his acting on the projects that brought him fame. Mattar shows himself as a survivor in the business, appears here and elsewhere but the past as being the charming romantic characters he played is all in the past. In times when we hear about the outcome and fate of former TV Globo stars, his life and career didn't sunk all that much. So, here's an example to be followed if given the opportunity of such; others became anonymous with sad stories to present, few were successful to get back on the track and rise from the ashes. I salute him for that, his act was good, convinceable and he brings curiosity to the product - I'm looking forward to taste those fries.

It's a very good short, very funny for little reasons. By now I practically know all the lines and have a kick out of it, never gets old. 10/10
