During the scene where the Econo Guy is talking about going to Razzi's Pizza and Robert Pollard is arguing with a band mate on the phone, a clip from the 1996 What a Cartoon! (1995) short "Pizza Boy in No Tip (1996)" can be heard faintly in the background. This was edited in by Linn Benton during post.
Although unlisted in the credits, the shot of Robert Pollard getting gas was filmed at a Pilot station in Ellensburg, WA (hence the Screaming Trees song playing in the background), while the scene of the Econo Guy smoking a cigarette just before the concert was shot outside of a Subway/Dairy Queen store in Goldendale, WA, both on the crew's way back from the trip.
The Aurelio Voltaire concert shown in the film was held on February 8, 2020 at the El Corazon nightclub in Seattle. Other artists on the bill that night (that weren't filmed) included Jeff Ferrell, Suffering for Kisses and Audiorotic.
The hotel the characters stayed at was the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in downtown Seattle, just down the road from the El Corazon nightclub. It was one of the cheapest hotels in the Seattle area, which surprised the crew because of how "big and fancy" it was.
Tommy Burnett's character was named "Robert Pollard of Guided by Voices fame" and was listen as playing "himself" in the credits due to Tommy Burnett's resemblance to the singer of the band Guided By Voices, named Robert Pollard.
