As “Bohemian Rhapsody” approaches a landmark $800 million at the global box office, another Queen milestone quietly took place in 2018. With appearances in nationwide campaigns for Amazon, Ram Trucks, Google, Peloton, Silk Almondmilk and many more, Queen’s music was licensed by more blue-chip brands than any other calendar year.
And in the first few weeks of 2019, a moody take on the band’s “Under Pressure” (featuring vocals from singer-songwriter Cara Salimando) has been in heavy rotation on Fox as the soundtrack to promos for Season 2 of medical drama “The Resident,” suggesting that even more Queen songs and interpretations may still be on the horizon.
What’s behind the renewed reign of Queen? Brian Monaco, president/global chief marketing officer of Queen’s publisher Sony/Atv, says the synch boom is the strategic result of three years of pitching the band’s music to the commercial community in anticipation of capitalizing...

Chicago – “No soup for you!” is one of the most memorable TV catchphrases of the 1990s, uttered into immortality by actor Larry Thomas on “Seinfeld,” who portrayed “The Soup Nazi.” Thomas was in the Chicago area recently to act in “Mind Over Mindy,” a new comedy from writer/director Robert Alaniz.
Larry Thomas was born in Brooklyn, and has been a working actor since the 1980s. He made his appearance on “Seinfeld” in 1996, and garnered an Emmy nomination for his Soup Nazi role, and he also appeared in the final episode of “Seinfeld.” Since then, he has continued to do character roles in TV and films such as “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” “Arrested Development,” “Scrubs,” a spoof called “Zero Dark Dirty” and Robert Alaniz’s previous film “You Don’t Say!”.
He also continues to appear as The Soup Nazi at events, including a recent 25th anniversary celebration of “Seinfeld’s” first season,...

Read our exclusive interview with Corey Feldman and actor/writer/producer/director Alex Loy, whose upcoming musical comedy, ‘Operation Belvis Bash,’ is scheduled to have a limited theatrical release in June 2011. Loy portrays the title character, Belvis Bash, a struggling rock and roll musician who goes to Afghanistan to win over the Afghani people. Feldman portrays comedian Samuel Stilman, who joins Belvis on his journey, but the two are put in danger after they encounter infamous terrorist Abdul. Feldman and Loy discuss with us, among other things, how they prepared for the movie and how much support they have received from the public. Shockya (Sy): ‘Operation Belvis Bash’ follows the title character,...

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? The Legend Of The Mighty Soap Trailer When I was a kid I watched HBO relentlessly. Whenever there wasn't reairings of Fraggle Rock, Braingames, Heartbeeps,...

Are there "eerie links" between the Osama bin Laden saga and the Harry Potter franchise? And between Transformers movies, Corey Feldman movies, and whatever else you got, too? Sure, why not? Now that bin Laden's gone, it's tempting to see him everywhere. A day or so ago, he was imitating art, or something like that, in the new Feldman flick you'd previously never heard of, Operation Belvis Bash. Then he was Megatron at the end of the first live-action Transformers flick. (The Twitterverse only hoped he wasn't Megatron at the beginning of the second live-action Transformers flick…) Now he's Voldemort, per the Hollywood Reporter, quoting an old...

So will the inevitable 'Death of Bin Laden' film be a gritty indie or big studio effort? As soon as President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed, you know that studio execs started calling each other to figure out what properties were already in development that could be reworked as a movie about the killing of Bin Laden. It was only an hour after the first announcement that the Al Qaeda leader was dead that Deadline [1] ran a piece about two Bin Laden films that are close to a starting point. One is a Paramount film based on the book Jawbreaker, written by CIA operative Gary Bernsten, which is about the first attempt to kill Bin Laden in the initial invasion of Afghanistan that took place right after 9/11. The other film is Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal's movie Kill Bin Laden -- that's the small 'black...

A film released on May 1 starring Corey Feldman called “Operation Belvis Bash” created a bit of a stir. After filmgoers came away from the film, which told the story of a fictional operation to kill bin Laden, they soon learned bin Laden had been killed in real life. How creepy is that? Here’s the official press release: George Bush’s backyard was the backdrop for what turned out to be an unexpected ending to an exciting evening for actor/singer Corey Feldman. Feldman’s latest film, Operation Belvis Bash premiered on May 1, in Houston,TX, and is the story of a special military operation whose goal is to assassinate Osama Bin Laden....

The official story is that the Navy SEALs took out al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin laden in a precise, heroic strike in Pakistan on Sunday. But if you ask 80's teen star Corey Feldman, he just may have had a part in taking down the world's most wanted criminal.
Feldman, the star of such 80's staples as "Stand By Me" and "The Lost Boys," has been touring with his very serious independent film, "Operation Belvis Bash," a war epic in which a number of entertainers, including his "outrageous 'Jewtastic' comedian,' Samuel Stilman, travel to Afghanistan to try to liberate Kabul through the power of mediocre at best rock 'n roll. He had just gotten out of a screening of his film, which is currently on tour in Texas, when he got the news of Bin Laden's death.

In the wake of all the fervent sporting event chants of USA and the vicious social media debates, everyone wants to take credit for the assassination of Osama Bin Laden. The Armed Forces, the Navy Seals who were actually part of the mission, the Judeo-Christian Military Industrial Complex, Annheiser-Busch, President Obama, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Twitter -- they all want a lick at that shiny brass ring. But, clearly, we are forgetting the true hero, the one who predicted this moment with disturbing alacrity.
Corey Feldman.
Last night was the premiere of Operation Belvis Bash, a "zany" independent "film" that's dubbed as a musical comedy romance set in the deserts of Afghanistan. But get this, it's about...are you ready for it?...the assassination of Osama Bin Laden!!!1!1! Well, not really. But maybe! Probably?
Here's the synopsis: "Operation Belvis Bash is the story of struggling rock and roll musician...

Chicago – Corey Feldman is a survivor, both of his own child acting era and the aftermath of growing up. Best known for a string of 1980s cult favorites, including “Stand by Me” and “The Goonies,” he also partnered with Corey Haim, to forever be known as The Two Coreys. Feldman was in Chicago in January to introduce his films at The Hollywood Palms Theater (Naperville, Illinois) and Hollywood Blvd Theater (Woodridge).
Corey Feldman was born in Los Angeles in 1971, and began his acting career at the age of three in a McDonald’s commercial. After appearances in over 100 commercials and 50 TV guest roles, he broke out in the 1980s and starred in 15 number one box office champs in a row. These films included “Gremlins” (1984), “The Goonies” (1985), “Stand by Me” (1986) and “The Lost Boys” (1987). It was in The Lost Boys that Feldman was first paired with Corey Haim, and the two...
