Be careful when you step past Death's Door.
Sleepin_Dragon6 November 2015
Harry is called in when a mutilated woman is found, accompanying him is student Holly, investigating is DI Barker and Professor Janet Mander. Nikki does a facial reconstruction and Holly identifies her as Fran Price, a TV presenter that put away criminal Leonid Polyak. Fran's agent Derek Pargeter is called to identify her, he is unhelpful and evasive. Harry and Holly attends Fran's home and find a horrific scene, with a distinct lack of DNA. Fran Price's blood is found in a rental car at an airport. Driver of the car had been Mikhail Akimovich, the team suspect a Russian contract killing. Information is leaked to the press, Harry believes it's Holly, she denies it, and Harry witnesses DI Barker entering her home. The next victim turns up, tragically close to home.

Silent Witness had a little bit of a sense of humour back then, and Harry's yellow outfit is a nice moment. The graphic amounts of kidneys and body parts is a little bit too much, not one to watch during a meal of Steak and Kidney pie. The actual victim too, Hammer horror methinks.

Is Holly a little too far fetched, would she have been allowed such access to the victims and crime scenes? not sure, but it made for great TV. She's a very interesting character, you can't help but wonder what her true motives are.

It's funny seeing Neil Dudgeon playing DI Barker, adds a touch of Midsomer Murders to proceedings. The out and out loveliness of Jaye Griffiths is great, so glad she became a regular. Phil Davies has the midas touch, a gifted actor, as soon as he appeared I knew it was going to be beyond good.

It's a nicely shot episode, the shots of London's sky line look fantastic.

Brilliant episode 9/10
