Simply put this documentary is bad and painfully unfocused. A high school student could do a better job of maintaining focus. There is a weird amount of time spent on the Black Lives Matter movement and no clear connection to the main idea of the documentary is shown. Also, the documentary explicitly follows single mothers with multiple kids. Maybe that says something about the importance of the nuclear family.
It also doesn't show the real harsh realities of poverty. We watch as every single kid in the series plays on their smartphone and wears Air Jordans. The first mom rolls up in a Toyota Camry that looks almost brand new.
Growing up in the projects it's almost offensive to watch this documentary. Show the people working 2-3 jobs. There is too much said and not enough shown.
