Clean House, Style network’s flagship cluttered home renovating show, is getting rid of two of its four hosts. I got a casting notice looking for a “Go-To Guy” and a “Yard Sale Diva,” positions that used to be occupied by Matt Iseman and Trish Suhr. While Iseman’s moved onto greener (or at least, more manly) pastures as the host of the new Sports Soup (check out our interview with him here), I don’t know if Suhr was fired or just decided to move on. The last regular woman on that show, Linda Koopersmith, sued after she was let go, alleging age discrimination. Maybe Suhr got too old, too? Either way, whoever replaces the departing hosts won’t be any more knowledgeable about home improvement and yard sales than their predecessors were—the casting notice stresses that it’s looking for comedians and improvisers for the roles, while carpentry skills are “not necessary.

Comedy and sports should go together like pizza and beer. After all, most sporting events are basically an excuse for guys to hang out and rag on each other, the players, the teams, the cities, rival fans and themselves, so it would seem like a natural fit for someone to put together a funny sports show that professionally mocks all of the above. So far, though, all attempts have failed entirely, usually because the host is some dour talking head posing as a comedian, like, for instance, Dennis Miller. Having learned from the Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller debacle, though, the guys at Versus (traditional home of popular events such as competitive horse branding and the world caber toss championship) have decided to turn to professional funnymen for their next project, Sports Soup.
