This one is good for multiple viewings
cjmyers-9844214 June 2022
I have to admit that I missed several Easter eggs on my first viewing. This was written by a true F13 fan as it pays homage to several films in the series and skillfully uses those references to create a unique storyline. I'm super impressed with the story and the Herculean effort to film it in 8 days. The soundtrack is killer and the effects are fantastic. It's a must see for fans.

Meh, it was average...
yanezalex9543 December 2021
This movie is not perfect. The writing is terrible. The costume of Jason looks so cheap. The kills are generic. Overall, it's just brainless. The only positive I can say was Michael Myers appearing at the very end. Like where is this leading up to? Is it just fan service? I don't know.

Not bad, but has some cringe worthy scenes.
MikeHunt107519 June 2022
For a fan film it's shot very well. The writing, production and directing is pretty good and the plot fits nicely in between F13th 7 and 8.

My only complaints go to a God awful intro when we see Tina and Rose interact for the first time, like it was a jumbled up confusing mess of ideas to make them sisters, but scrapped it, then have them as close best friends, which makes no sense and a bunch of other cringe worthy lines... the scene needed to be re-shot and the acting improved... same goes for everyone in the next scene. Plus The Generel was lame, not believable and had some painful to watch acting at times.

There also needed to be more stretched out with the seal team, as they came off too easy to pick off for all the hype they got.

As unexpected as the finale was, it was too quick and felt pointless adding that other slasher to the film for what occurs.

If these things where fixed up, I'd be all for accepting this as cannon!

Rose Blood: A Friday the 13th Fan Film: So many Friday 13th fan films, so few enjoyable
Platypuschow16 February 2024
Plot

Takes place 13 months after Friday The 13th Part VII. We follow Tina Shepard as she is held and studied at the infamous Camp Crystal Lake Research Facility. Tina realizes that she is not alone. There in fact is another New Blood. Rose.

Cast

Friday 13th stars Lar Park-Lincoln (Tina) and Kevin Spirtas (Nick return) to reprise their roles as does Terry Kiser as Dr Crews. We also have the dreadful Sanae Loutsis who can also oddly be seen in the fellow Friday 13th fan films Friday 13th Vengeance 1 & 2.

Verdict

It wasn't until I decided to binge watch all the Friday 13th fan films that I realized a number of things. First of all, there are plenty of them! Second, how weirdly incestuous they all are, you'll notice how many are connected in some way whether it be cast or the creators. Such as the director of one series of them will be the producer of others. Next how many manage to get official Friday 13th cast members involved, that is impressive. And finally how weirdly shilled they all are on IMDB, it seems consistent cross the board from the Vengeance movies to the Never Hike Alone ones and beyond.

The trouble is not that they vary in quality, but that most are really quite terrible despite many having a fair few things going for them such as the original cast members.

Rose Blood digs deep with the nostalgia and clear love for the franchise, I love the fact we have a young Creighton Duke here, I appreciate their decision to follow on from Friday 13th: New Blood, I think there are elements here that really work but sadly there are just too many that don't.

Jason's body looks absurd, the bones just don't look even remotely passable. The acting is spotty, and when it's bad it's really bad. Sanae Loutsis is the worst actress, truly needs lessons or to move into a different career! The writing is hokey, the kills are questionable and it just doesn't flow nor feel like the companion piece it's clearly supposed to be.

And then there is the "Twist" the big shock appearance later in the film which though on paper is a fans wet dream, feels forced, rushed and just doesn't work in the slightest.

I'd say nice attempt, but I'd be giving too much credit. The best I can do is say it's not the worst fan film out there, not even close.

Rants

I'd love an explanation behind how interconnected all these Friday 13th fan films are. I'd love to know how they manage to get all these original movie stars to be involved. I'd love to know why Loutsis thinks she's an actress. I'd love to know why they're consistently shilled (And why the creators get so upset when called out on it). I doubt I'll ever get the answers, but doesn't stop making me wonder.

Breakdown

Feels like a love letter to the fans Some great nods to previous films Some original cast members Weak acting Some questionable decisions Jason looks hokey Sanae Loutsis is just dreadful.

Two thumbs way up.

This is amazing for a small budget independent fan film. It feels like a big studio movie. At times I almost forgot I was watching a F13 movie. The characters are so well written and the story keeps you intrigued unil the third act payoff.

missed opportunity
goddessofdark-625781 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Poor acting, rushed script with painful dialogue, Jason doesn't appear for about an hour and when he does it is in a costume that looks like something you could get from a cheap Halloween store. Add into all of that the use of some really poor camera angles like the three soldiers sitting next to each other or the side view of a character talking and all we can see is his hair, washed out coloring and empty panning shots and it has a feel of a below-par Hallmark flick especially with the music playing throughout. I had high hopes for this but wish I just watched Never Hike Alone again. Now I just wish they would leave these fan films alone before they kill all chances of someone serious bringing back Jason to the theatre.

Good, but...
paul_haakonsen31 January 2023
Well, the concept idea behind "Rose Blood" from writer and director Peter Anthony was definitely interesting, and it was good fun to return to the "Friday the 13th" franchise - unofficially though - and see what happened to Tina (from "Friday the 13th Part VII").

It was definitetely nice to see Lar Park-Lincoln (playing Tina) return to reprise her role from "Friday the 13th Part VII", as well as Terry Kiser (playing Dr. Crews) and Kevin Spirtas (playing Nick). And it was also a nice touch to include The Duke, the character from "Jason Goes to Hell", in this movie too.

However, having to sit through 63 minutes of movie without Jason was rough, and it took away a lot of enjoyment from the movie. We sit down to watch Jason Voorhees slaughtering his way through the movie and kill off people in gory, gruesome ways. But you need to wait 63 minutes before he makes an appearance, and that was a shame. I will say, though, that once he did appear, then the movie really stepped into gear.

The acting performances in "Rose Blood" were good, and Jason Brooks definitely does have a good approach to his portrayal of the iconic slasher.

Visually then "Rose Blood" was good. There were a fair amount of interesting kills and gory special effects; which is the stuff us fans love about the movies in the "Friday the 13th" franchise. But waiting 63 minutes before getting to the good stuff, was just a tad too much.

Definitely a watchable take on the events following "Friday the 13th Part VII", for sure. But certainly not without its flaws.

My rating of "Rose Blood" lands on a six out of ten stars. I would have rated it a five out of ten stars, but the appearance of Jason, despite its lateness, definitely spruced things up in a much needed manner.

How did they not get sued?
dextershorrorcorner1 January 2022
I saw a lot of ads for this film on facebook. You would think by the way they promote it that it would at least be watchable. That couldn't be any less the case. I had to turn it off 15 minutes in because my brain hurt. If you are going to watch a Friday Fan Film, do yourself a favor and watch Never Hike Alone. At least they know what they are doing.

WOW!
Casedogg992 December 2021
Did not know what to expect with this film but was thoroughly impressed!

Jason Brooks as JASON VOORHEES is the only person I want to see behind the mask in any upcoming projects. An absolutely tremendous job portraying the Part 7 Jason.

Can you believe this is Jessica Hottmans 1st time acting?!?! Unbelievable job as Young Tina!

The pacing, lighting and sound is on point! Great job from Kody Newton and his team.

The special effects from The Amos Brothers are awesome!

I think the fact that Terry Kiser, Lar Park Lincoln, Kevin Spirtas and don't forget Harry Manfredini all agreed to do this fan film after reading Peters script proves that he is truly a lover of these films and it shows in his writing and attention to detail throughout the movie.

Great job to everyone involved!

Really looking forward to see what the future holds for this group of people.

Decent concept, but unfortunately this Rose has wilted
udar554 December 2021
You have to give Friday the 13th fans credit. While Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller are slashing it out in court over the F13 film rights, the fans have kept Jason Voorhees alive via a number of fan films. In the last few months, I've seen a bunch of them from Never Hike Alone (2017) to Friday the 13th: Vengeance (2019). They are fun and often cast F13 alumni, but I couldn't help but lament that I wish the filmmakers did more than just having Jason chase folks around the woods. Rose Blood seemed to be fulfilling that possibility by acting as a direct sequel to Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988). Unfortunately, the execution is woefully inadequate.

The majority of the film takes place in June 1989 at the Camp Crystal Lake Research Facility, a military lab studying psychic phenomenon. To give you an idea at how careless the filmmakers are, they decorate their set with a picture of President Reagan on the wall. Dang, if only there was some kind of machine that they could type into to find out who was President that year. Anyway, the prize subject here is Tina Shepard (Jessica Hottman), a year removed from her tangle with Jason. Also working in the facility is Creighton Duke (the truly awful Jequient Broaden), the bounty hunter from Jason Goes to Hell (1993). There are lots of military and medical types talking in white rooms before the arrival of Rose (Sanae Loutsis), another teenage girl with telekinetic powers that dwarf even Tina. To establish this, director Peter Anthony shows members of the team watching a horrific security video of Rose brutally murdering her parents. We just have to assume it is super graphic as Anthony films it by just showing people watching it in silence, wincing and then going, "Turn it off!" Anyway, this all builds to an experiment on Tina and Rose together that results in Jason (the aptly-named Jason Brooks, who also played Jason in the Vengeance films) being resurrected at the 65-minute mark and killing a few not-so-elite soldiers rather quickly before he has to face another manifested boogeyman.

I almost feel guilty giving this film a bad write up. After all, the filmmakers are obviously fans of the F13 series and you can't hold a fan film to the same standard as films with 500 times the budget. That said, there is no excuse for terrible acting, bad dialogue, and a painfully laborious scenario that only features Jason Voorhees for ten minutes of the 90-minute running time. Writer-director Anthony (who also hams it up as a General) seems more focused on putting on something more akin to Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz with the military focusing on how to use telekinetic children as weapons along with a side order of way too many random Nintendo and Sega references (nostalgia!!!). This level of stiltedness carries over to the kill scenes as well. Look in awe as Jason attacks some soldiers in a 10x10 black room (and, yes, one soldier sleeps through most of the carnage because he has a Walkman on). Perhaps the most offensive element is the film using the main selling point of bringing back VII's stars Lar Park Lincoln, Terry Kiser, and Kevin Spirtas, only to give them a few minutes of screen time. Bummer.

Loved it!
Shawn-M-Loutsis1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The plot was awesome, and I really enjoyed the character building that the writer/director did. I can't think of any other F13 fan film, or any F13 film for that matter, that I actually felt connected to each and every character. This made me forget that Jason didn't even enter the film for quite sometime. That is a hard accomplishment in an F13 film so my hat goes off to the writer/director. The cinematography was awesome and special effects were incredible. The kills were great and very creative as well. I loved the film, best fan film to date and even rivals some of the Paramount Productions. A must see in my opinion!

Couldn't watch all of it
doityourself-9759329 December 2021
I don't know the challenges they faced making this film and I love fan films however the choices made in this are odd... mostly shot in white rooms with boring lighting, outside was not lit it could have been filming in a dark room? Where there trees around? Couldn't see. Looks amateur hour for lighting all across the board. Good audio overall. Storyline was pretty bad, couldn't follow and had to skip. Just seemed really drawn out, would have loved to see more of the "team" vs getting their butt kicked in 2 seconds. It was very boring.

One of the best Friday the 13th Fan Films!
jla125892 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've been a fan of the Friday the 13th franchise for many years. I've also been watching fan films for a long time as well. I've seen some good quality fan films and I've also seen cheep fan films that were clearly filmed in someone's backyard. But this I can safely say was one heck of a quality fan film.

This is a direct sequel to Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood and it's a great continuation of that movie. It continues Tina's story and introduces a new story as well. The new character Rose is a very interesting character a character that has an emotional backstory and is a great fit to be friends with Tina. The crew did a great job with the setting making it look like it's set in the 80's. I also enjoyed seeing the character of Creighton Duke from Jason goes to Hell and he is just as good as ever. But the best part was of course when the star of the Friday the 13th franchise Jason Voorhees arrives to do what he does best. The soldiers were a good group of victims and the deaths were top notch with great practical effects. Jason Brooks who also played Jason in another Friday the 13th fan film was great as Jason again. My only gripe is that Jason isn't in the film that much. But it makes up for it with well written characters.

Overall Rose Blood is a great Friday the 13th fan film that should please the fans of the franchise especially the fans of Part VII. It's got good characters, good action, good deaths, good effects and even good cameos from a few Part VII actors. Check this film out.

First Fan Film
SlightlyScared4 January 2022
This was the first Friday The 13th fan film I had ever watched. It was so terrible I thought it was satire. I think the actors and actresses tried their best with the material they were given, but when your are given garbage there is not much else you can do. Don't let this film ruin your hopes of there not being good fan films out there. I almost refused to watch any others fan films because I thought they would be like Roseblood. Watch Never Hike Alone or Jason Rising, it will restore your faith. Save yourself an hour and a half of your time and don't watch this.

One of the worst fan films I've ever seen.
3DForMe24 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a huge fan of the Friday the 13th franchise. More specifically, part 7. When I saw there was a fan film made to follow it, I jumped into it...and boy, was I disappointed.

I don't expect a cinema masterpiece when watching a fan film, but I do understand that fan films are made for fans, by fans, which is what made this film so incredibly terrible. I would think that a fan would know how to follow up a great movie with something that could be worthy of its base idea.

Given the fact that some of the cast from part 7 joined in to make this film, I was sure that it would have helped it to be great, but somehow, that was wrong, too.

The story wasn't good. The acting was even worse, and the fact that in making this, they thought it would be a real treat to have Michael Myers appear.

Dead wrong. It made absolutely no sense. At least the Michael vs Jason fan film was good and it made sense. This was just putting Michael Myers in it just because. He seriously had no place in this film.

From what I understand , this was a fan funded film (kickstarter, IndieGoGo, etc.). I would be so angry if I actually invested money into this because it was terrible. Obviously, I wouldn't be able to ask for my money back, and would have to take a loss, but I would be incredibly angry and wouldn't invest any more money into anything these people make, ever again.

Great Movie!
joecabanphotography1 December 2021
Though influenced by the earlier film, Writer-Director PetervAnthony reworks many of the original elements and comes up with a surprisingly relevant take on the gaps in the story from other F13 films. This is an excellent adaption of F13 Part 7: wholly original, modernized, and thrilling. We can't wait to see what this director and cast do next.

I gave 1 point more. for re-transmitting it to me as well as chapter 7.
olcayozfirat2 February 2023
Horror movie shot by fans of the 2021 movie Friday the 13th. The movie was made as a sequel to the 7th episode of Friday the 13th. So what happened in episode 7? While little Tina and her family were vacationing in Crystal Lake, Tina's father abused her mother, and Tina killed her father thanks to her special psychic powers. When she grew up, she came to the same lake again and this time killed Jason in the waters of the lake.

This movie has the actress playing the role of Tina at the time. She played again 33 years later. But the movie does not suit Friday the 13th fans at all. In which series did you see so many dialogues? Especially what those characters are, they are all nonsense. Ok, I won't say anything about make-up, masks and effects because it's an amateur job. But I'm really curious about this. Did you watch and like this movie after shooting it? Because I think it was a disaster. Look, the movie "Never Hike Alone", shot by the fans, reflected the spirit of the series. But this has never happened. You just had fun while chatting with yourself. Finally, let me say that military elements do not suit horror movies at all.

There is no sex or nudity in the movie.

Great Story / Great Film.
twarnerfamilyx1 December 2021
I know this was a Fan Film but you would never know it from the production value. Peter and his Team nailed it imo. Being able to convince original Actors and Actresses from the series to join the story couldn't have been easy. I know Lar Park Lincoln had several opportunities to bring Tina back to the series but turned down several scripts because the story just wasn't right for her. This shows what Talent Producer Peter Anthony has for coming up with a Solid Story to get her and Terry Kiser to join. Looking forward to many more Films from Peter and his Team.

This is an abomination. Literally an embarrassment to the Friday the 13th franchise. All the hype that you see in the ratings are people who literally work on this film. The actor is atrocious. And you're going to try to get me to believe that this happened 13 months after the original part 7 movie. When the leading girl has aged 30 years since then. This movie is nothing but a play on peoples intelligence.

Rose blood easily stands alongside any of the major releases for the Friday the 13th movies.

You can tell how much this movie meant to everyone involved especially especially Peter Anthony who had literally put his heart and soul into this and is living his dream.

I've watched this at least six times already and it gets better each and every time I watch it. Jason Brooks is without a doubt an awesome choice to don the mask, Peter Anthony is a phenomenal actor, Sanae Loutsis has a very promising acting career for years to come, and having F13 alumni is just incredible. You all have a true fan in me!!
