- RADIO SILENCE is a slow burn style Dramatic Thriller that asks 2 important questions ; Will a person always choose to do the right thing? And when you make that choice, how will your character be tested? You dive into a unique experience, as we find ourselves in a glimpse of the past, the future, and the present. The film opens on the Dare N Jare show in progress, with a caller of different sorts. As her conversation transforms to a cry for help, will this dynamic duo hear her cries? With a short look into the future, through various screams and a view of the radio station, we find bodies lying, police filing into the space, a weapon and blood. After a moment's past, a hand covered in blood slams on the desk. What will come of this? Which brings us to the present, 72 hours earlier, introducing Darren Brisco in the flesh. As workers fill the space, he sets at his desk in thought while honing in on the final preparations for special guests, R&B/Pop group Wordplay. We then meet the arrogant Jare of the Dare N Jare show, co-host Jared. In no time we see the beautiful intern Zelda being shown the ropes, with an eye on Darren. As Wordplay enters the room, it's quite clear that Jared is not a fan, and they agree to this interview with certain demands. Jared breaks those demands, in the midst of the interview, with an unauthorized clip of missing 4th member, William. As things fall apart, Darren checks his partner for the messiness ensued and has to think on his feet as the group tears into one another. With a deep breath and heartfelt words, Darren brings the intensity levels down dramatically saving the segment and their jobs. Zelda catches this and is taken by surprise with Darren's unrelenting charisma and presence. Jared later returns to the room with deep seeded jealousy and anger.
Before a major club promo event, with a large crowd on its way inside, Darren explains what life is like as the top radio hosts of TAKE CTRL Radio with a montage of hard pressed meetings and late night writing sessions, previous promo events with a male figure watching both men heavily then leaving, leading to the duo invading the stage for sip slow Saturdays. Already intoxicated and a heavy chip on his shoulder, Jared jumps the gun while sharing the stage with Darren, leading to a brief pow-wow for almost messing things up here too. As Darren once again, regains the crowd and saves the moment, Jared drinks and Zelda happens to watch. With Catty & fun co-workers Janice and Alyssa, Zelda realizes that maybe Darren is more then she thinks. But her intrigue if interrupted with the girls petty arguments and a handsy drunk Jared shooting his shot and failing noticeably. With a puked on Janice, and a girl code breaking Alyssa, Zelda locks eyes with Darren and grabs Jared's phone from the floor. As Darren arrives to his beautiful condo style home, he's let with a rude shoulder bump from a man outside his building and moments later...An unexpected guest. Zelda. After cleaning things up, she appears at his doorway with a sexual heat and deep interest to see how good Darren really is. As their encounter quickly turns intimate, it's clear Zelda maybe carrying ulterior motives, but chooses to keep things on a get to know level. Darren wakes the next day, finding Zelda gone...Until he heads towards the living room and spotting Zelda making breakfast in the kitchen. From there, it becomes a feeling that love could brew between a confused Darren and a noticeably indecisive Zelda.
Zelda leaves Darren and entering her car, many texts were ignored, some of which asking about him followed by a brief exchange by the man in question. As Darren prepares for work, a message is sent regarding his mom and Zelda enters the station and walking right into a dilemma where an emotional radio host can't contain her current caller who blames her for her failing relationship. Riley, who helps to oversee certain shows at the station, is first on the scene before Janice and Zelda enter the Frey. A satisfied and laxed Alyssa later joins and things get out of control. With the host gone and the cattiness on 10, Zelda decides that she can be like Darren and save the day. As she takes the call, starting off shaky, Zelda fetes down to brass tacks turning things around and feeling an unexpected rush. The girls who disagreed with the idea of Zelda taking on the challenge, now admire and show a new found respect for this intern, until Jared enters the room. As things move towards the upcoming Dare N Jare show, Jared is on a mission to find his phone and giving business as usual by insulting Janice and Alyssa, while continuing his course to get Zelda. Darren enters the recording room, different, and a series of texts will change him as he learns that his mother has passed away. Courtesy of his abusive step father. As the news grips him deep, the Jared & Zelda situation heightens his anger to the point of no return, leading to a shocking showdown between Darren & Jared. Zelda grabs Darren's phone and chases him to the parking lot where this encounter, doesn't end on a high note. With each word and attack delivered by Darren, Zelda begins questioning his character, and ends that questioning with a shove and a reminder that Darren is not a man. Leaving Darren stunned.
Darren enters his home and takes a nap. Bringing Zelda's words to a past look at his life as a teenager. One day after school, Darren finds himself suspended and now trespassing while skateboarding on the grounds, his eager friend Chase convinces him of how cool he really is. Then, spotted by security and caught by the police, Darren is sent home where his Alcoholic and abusive stepfather Gerald, is waiting. As we travel back to present Darren and teen Darren, the struggle is evident that Darren feels more powerless as he did on this particular day as a teen, where Gerald's tough love is a reminder best served with his fists as well as his words. But when Patricia comes home early and catches Gerald in the act, teen Darren may finally have some back up. But as Darren tries to fight back, with Patricia's assisting, her heart becomes the problem that no one sees coming, pushing Darren to wake still harvesting fault. Zelda decides to try this again by showing up to Darren's home. Upon entering and searching for his whereabouts, she finds him in the shower with a notion of suicide. Almost feeling deja vu, she consoles an emotionally broken Darren with a deep second thought that maybe...Just maybe, this ulterior motive can be removed.
As Darren awakens again, Zelda is seen in the room preparing to leave, then he asks her to stay embarking on a journey where Darren reveals his high vulnerability and the bigger surprise comes from Jared, who's fighting with himself but heads to Darren's place. Jared enters the place in high judgment of how Darren lives, while Darren is coming more into high regard for Zelda. Is she, indeed, falling for Darren? Within their kiss, Jared breaks the opportunity for that question to be answered and is caught & confronted by both Darren and Zelda. Tempers flare up between the guys leaving Zelda in the crossfire between an ego-driven Jared and a strongly disregarding Darren. At the highest level of Anger, Darren shoves Zelda into the glass coffee table, shattering it and reminding him of his mother. This answers her question, realizing what he's done Darren tries to help Zelda only to be denied. As Zelda leaves his place, her heart is slowly breaking and this has now become a family matter...When Uncle Terry pops from hiding and confronts Zelda. Being one of the sources of messages ignored by Zelda, he quickly reminds her that her focus needs to get back on track, utilizing every member of the family including Jessica, to steer her back in line because without her...Everyone loses. Inadvertently, Jared is thrown out of Darren's home and somehow finds himself heading to his car and Zelda helping him? Looks like a plan is set to begin.
To start this plan, Darren is preparing for the day, still in his head about shoving Zelda, Jared is seen with Zelda in bed...Or so he thinks, and Zelda is on a date? As these pieces slowly play, the trail leads to Jared in the driver seat of the recording room, feeling on top of the world from his time with Zelda and "taking his rightful place" and later Darren, who's suspicion is he's in the right place at the wrong time. After a conversation with previous intern/now security Bobby, Darren now realizes that something is underway and it maybe because of him. As the show begins, the real Jared, who's afraid and not ready for the spotlight is revealed with someone watching from a distance...Zelda. Or. Jessica? Darren rushes and makes it into the room where both men, still stinging from the night before, are at a war of words. Darren connects the dots to Jared by mentioning a previous segment with a caller seeking help, the interrogating officer he encountered shortly after and the results of that, and a piece of evidence Zelda had on her all along...A locket worn by her that's identical to one worn by a woman who attempted suicide after being disconnected from a call. Shots are fired and now someone is on the loose in the station. With Jared's head hurting him both with the information and the recurring pain, it becomes clear that maybe even he was set up, telling Darren about his night with Zelda. But as he connect the final piece, he's met with bullets. But who possess the gun? Jessica? Or Zelda? Today's the day that Darren finds out why as things are about to get personal.
