An interesting political drama with a twist. A prominent man, Patrick Dalbray, is and up and coming candidate for higher office in France. As the mayor of a city, he has fought with a powerful man about the construction of a hospital. Patrick, who is having a hot affair with his assistant, Karine, is not prepared when she is found killed on the street by a hit and run driver. The consequences of his affair will come to wreck his placid love life, a betrayal to his wife and children that will devastate him.

A surprise feature made for television was presented recently on a French cable channel. Not having seen it, and noticing it was directed by Caroline Huppert, the sister of Isabelle Huppert, we decided to take a chance. Ms. Huppert work is basically geared for television. The film involves the viewer from the start with its twists and turns that keeps one guessing what really is at stake behind the assassination of Karine Blanchard, and the investigation led by Mathieu Villiers to bring justice to the slain woman. The screenplay was written by Judith Louis. The film was shot mainly in Lyon.

Ms. Huppert gets good acting from her cast, especially Bruno Slagmulder who is seen as Mathieu. An inspired Eric Savin is the man at the center of the story. The two female leads, Sarah Grappin and Nathalie Bensacon do justice to their characters.
