Make a shark cage out of clear plexiglas, put it next to a huge hunk of meat and then sit back and watch the lions do their thing. Fascinating. However, elements of this film quickly become annoying: constant narration about how dangerous and intimidating this is for the occupants; constant high drama music; editing for fast cutaways and quick zooms. It seemed 90% of the shots of the lions in action were from telephoto cameras rather than from the interior of the plexiglas box, which kind of undermines the whole point. This may be explained by how the plexiglas is not exactly clear and as the lions paw, lick and chew on the box it gets even more clouded. Plus, the box is just big enough for 2 men, preventing maneuverability and use of decent cameras. But you still come away with a renewed appreciation for the size and power of lions. My favorite part was watching how possessive and aggressive the lions were over an inedible human manikin.
