Darker yet more hopeful than the first episode
evansjoshyr14 October 2021
If last episode showed an anxiety inducing downward spiral of events getting worse and worse through the episode, this feels like an antidote to that. There's more of a balance between the hopeful and the horrific. Especially the value of friendship and kindness of strangers is highlighted. The problems of last episode don't suddenly go away, but they are easier to deal with when you have someone else to help you through it.

The result is a mix of emotions between empathy/ sympathy for Alex, but optimism that maybe she's going to make it through this difficult time. A thoroughly enjoyable episode.

A little research, please
petewood-599515 October 2021
I really wish that tv shows would bother talking to real attorneys before depicting one. You can't give somebody notice of a hearing over the phone. You can't end of story. And no judge in the world is going to proceed to a termination of parental rights based on a mother, who hasn't been properly served, not showing up for an emergency hearing. Not to mention that judges aren't fools. Dad is hardly in the drivers seat here. The phone call from the lawyer yanked me completely out of a pretty good show.

Good but should be realistic
Zedyeti21 October 2021
I'm going to get blasted for this, but a show like this, covering a very serious topic, should try to be as realistic as possible and unfortunately the court procedure process was not. Don't know if lack of researching or just wanted to increase the dramatic effect, an emergency hearing of that kind could not proceed the way it did. Ok rant over.

The world is not without good people

If the first episode made you worry about the heroine and resent that there is no one around to help her. This episode shows that there are a lot of good people in the world. And they will definitely come to the rescue. You just need to trust them.

And the ponies were lovely, yes! As a symbol of a new, happy life ...

Warning: Spoilers
Maid (2021)

Series

1st Season

Episode Two - Pôneis

I don't like reading comments from Banco de Séries, but I read some from the previous episode, there was a WOMAN who wrote that Alex should wait to find a company so she can leave home, I'm 100% sure that just as she has this thought, Also, when she sees in the newspaper that her wife or girlfriend was beaten in the house, she must say "yeah, but why didn't you leave the house sooner? You stayed because you wanted to" in short, the hypocrisy, the worst part is that there were several comments (mostly women) criticizing Alex.

What a wonderful place, how lucky Alex is, being able to explode a bomb in this shelter and start a Zombie Apocalypse.

I loved the friend from the shelter, it's been a while since I laughed so much with a character, what a shame she went back to her attacker.

Who would have thought that the best people in this series would be the dog kidnappers.

Episode two of the first season of the Miniseries Maid watched on May 22, 2024.

Good episode Most of the times, alex looks like she lives in another world. Meaning she fades away for seconds and even minutes, which is normal considering the events she experiences during this episode.

This show how has the potential of being one of the best tv shows in2021

Qualley commitment to the role really shows that she is a great actress who has a bright future in acting

In terms of the story.

What i really like about the show is that it shreds the light at the stories of hundreds of mothers who go through the same path and make the same mistakes

Naturally, there are some boring parts of the episode and the pace wasn't that good this time, but the good thing is that there are kinda needed to improve the story of alex and how she reacts to different events.

Abused for Real

Warning: Spoilers
Maddy is so cute!! She is indeed a super talented child actress. I enjoyed Danielle and how crazy she is. Her speech to Alex made me think about the stereotypical conceptions that the society has about women how they are more emotional, angry etc. But her blurb made me think that in cases of DV, since women are generally physically outclassed by men, they have to use their emotions such as anger to fight back and stand up for themselves. And throughout history, this may have consequently resulted in that stereotype, but I am saying that there is nothing wrong with that.

One thing that I scratched my head was how Regina was supposed to be a villain here. I really don't think Regina is someone to blame here. She didn't do anything wrong and she showed genuine concern when Alex passed out. Alex didn't get paid because the job was not done to her standard, which in my opinion is fine. What happened to Alex was just unfortunate but you can't blame that on Regina and she certainly does not deserve a "go f yourself". Sean is to blame here not Regina.

But overall, Maid is helping me see a side of the world that I am not familiar about as I haven't met many victims of domestic abuse. Through Alex, I see a glimpse into what it may feel like to be "on the run" with your child from your spouse. I think the Qualley does an excellent job portraying such a character. The 27 year old actress is a perfect fit for the young perhaps a little naive character of Alex. Very convincing performance so far. A sobering moment is also introduced to the audience as Danielle leaves the shelter when we have heard from herself how terrible her partner is. It comes as a shock but shows how dependent DV victims can be to their spouse unfortunately.

I fully understand the criticism of the legal procedures not being realistic. That's a valid point but we can definitely give a little bit of slack for dramatic purposes. I personally think that dramatizing something bad into something worse is better than dramatizing something good into something better, if that makes any sense.

Fun fact I didn't know about this show was that it was filmed around my hometown! It was really cool to see all the mentions of ferries and the all too familiar neighborhood.

Great run so far. This is where I stopped watching last time so I am excited to get into it.
