I am Brazilian but I live in Seattle since 1997. I'm a huge zombie fan, and I couldn't believe it when I found out that there was finally a Brazilian zombie movie out there. It was about time!

My sister sent me this movie for my birthday last month. I watched it with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

What I liked most about this movie was the dialogue, which was different from any other zombie film I've seen. The main characters are hilarious, and they say things to each other that feel real and loose. Basically, they talk like I talk to my friends. That was a plus. I also really liked the references to the zombie culture, that go from Michael Jackson's thriller to the George Romero films.

Another thing that really pleased me was the fact that the zombies are pretty classic looking. They move like the zombies in the original dawn of the dead, which is great! I never cared for fast zombies, they simply don't make sense to me.

The acting was above average for an independent film. Not all actors are good, but the main characters are played very well. The gore was enough to keep me satisfied, and although it's not a very serious movie, it does have enough tense and dramatic moments.

The reason for the zombie outbrake is also above average. I won't give it away, but it's not your typical toxic military virus. The reason for the zombies is really cool, especially if you are familiar with the history of Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.

Sure, there are camera issues, some lighting and sound problems and the make up isn't always top notch. I was going to rate this movie with a seven, but then I found out it cost around three thousand reais (which equals about thirteen hundred dollars). That really made my jaw drop. How on earth did these guys make a 90 minute zombie movie with under two thousand dollars?? After learning this, my hat tipped to them and my rating went way up.

Also, based on what I red on the official website, there will be a sequel. I can't wait!

In a country that almost don't have any kind of culture in horror flicks, and being in some subjects more amateurish than a professional movie, this one have more qualities than errors.

I saw this movie expecting an amateur/independent movie, and is exactly what i got. Weak actors, some mistakes about he zombies walking, strange dialogs, etc. Not that the movie is weak. If you think that Brazil don't have any tradition of zombie movies and almost cinema in general, this one is a victory.

Congratulations to the people who made this one.

To compare, if you liked Plaga Zombie, from Argentina, you will like this one.

The only thing i just cant understand was the use of death metal in the soundtrack. It's almost cliché and anti-climatic. The atmosphere sounds and music played through the movie are far better. On the soundtrack we also have "Soluços sem Soluções", or something like that, a ballad with weak lyrics, witch don't contribute on acclimatizing the movie. The same mistake of the death metal music on this one too.

The first film of promising Brazilian filmmaker Tiago Belotti follows a group of friends in the capital city of Brasilia after a zombie outbreak. The movie is clearly an homage to zombie movies of the past, as it has no absence of gore whatsoever. It follows a certain path that most zombie movies lean towards, and it works. With witty dialogue and even the humorous moment here and there, it becomes a very interesting movie. Natives of Brasilia will especially get a kick out of it since it was filmed throughout the most famous parts of the city. Overall, considering the budget and time constraints, as well as it being the director's first movie, this is impressive work.

Without spoiling anything, I'd like to say that the Capital has some of the smartest use of metalinguistics in this sort of movie, for instance the protagonists that GET what is happening, instead of being thrown into a world they don't know anything about, and some things, such as the quirkiness of the protagonists can be compared to Shaun of the Dead, sometimes.

You can tell this movie cost virtually no money (I really mean NO MONEY!), so I'll forgive some obvious camera, lighting and make up issues. Even then, if you suspend the disbelief in those, you'll see that the story is solid, with virtually no plot holes, and that's much more than one can say of many major motion pictures.

The best thing about this movies is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It constantly makes fun of itself, which keeps the pacing just right. There are some more serious scenes, but nothing overwhelming. I genuinely had a good time watching this, and so did the gang I watched it with.

The acting varies a lot. Part of the cast is actually quite good, the other part is pretty bad, but that fact is almost celebrated by the crew. I like that.

The many references to more famous zombie movies are great, as I was saying, and the dialogue is truly funny most of the times, and if you know the city of Brasília at all, you'll find even more to enjoy here.

I've noticed also that Brazil does not have a great tradition in making zombie movies. That is very true, but this one (despite looking very independent) deserves a look. The same can be said about "Mud Zombies" (or "Mangue Negro"). In my opinion, those two are the only worthy zombie movies to ever come out of Brazil.
