Shea and Syd McGee from the Netflix original show Dream Home Makeover, which premiered its first season in October 2020, are the sweetest husband and wife duo streaming. Since 2014, they have been running two successful businesses. They've also written a highly-anticipated home design book, Make Life Beautiful. The successful hit reality TV show ran for four seasons, with the last season airing in 2022. However, their personal beliefs remain under wraps.
In Dream Home Makeover, the husband and wife team help individual families to find beauty in their homes and lives. Of the work they do, Shea said, "Whether our client has 2 million dollars or $20,000, I want them all to feel that sense of peace when they walk in the door." Shea is the aesthetic eye on the home-themed reality show, while Syd handles the marketing and financial end. It makes for a much more relaxing home and garden program than other shows like Selling Sunset.

Netflix’s hyper-specific categories have become something of a punchline over the years. For every general collection of “comedies” and “reality TV,” there are ones like “critically acclaimed LGBTQ TV shows” (“Queer Eye” and “Tales of the City”), “Feel-Good Reality TV” (“The Great British Baking Show” and “Dream Home Makeover”) and “Oddballs and Outcasts” (“Sex Education” and assorted standup specials from men who were bullied in high school). At first, these subgenres just felt like cheeky ways to organize Netflix’s ever-ballooning library. Increasingly, though, it seems as if Netflix originals are pitched and written with an eye toward fitting into these esoteric characterizations.

Winter is the new fall this Covid-impacted TV season. Because of the lengthy production shutdown in the first months of the coronavirus pandemic, Fox and the CW delayed the rollout of their regular fall 2020 lineups, and a slew of other series intended for fall 2020 debut also are slated to premiere in early 2021 instead.
With uncertainty surrounding production as Covid outbreaks frequently pause filming, a number of premiere dates are still Tbd, as networks and streamers often wait until last minute to set debuts so they are sure than the new seasons would be completed successfully.
That said, here’s our annual list of midseason/winter premiere dates for new and returning series. It covers hundreds of broadcast, cable and streaming programs debuting from today through March 31 and includes shows that were on hiatus and some one-off specials such as awards shows.

After binging the entire season of Netflix’s “Dream Home Makeover”, we had a bunch of questions for Shea and Syd McGee. One in particular plagued us a bit. So Shea is a rockstar interior designer, but what exactly does Syd do?
“Like in real life?” Syd, whose sense of humor shines throughout the episodes, responded.
“I oversee everything that’s, like, not pretty,” he explained. “So hiring, firing, managing the team, managing budgets, when the crap hits the fan…just kind of the general all-around running business, but then making the projects come together with whatever it takes from the backend, so Shea can deliver a pretty finished product.”
“I could put up a towel rack and it will stay up, but that’s kind of it,” Syd said.
That’s Ok, Syd and Shea have 110 employees. That leaves a lot of workers for Syd to oversee, and enough...

Chances are that you’ve already got plenty of stuff adding up on your Netflix queue right now, especially with this month’s incredible collection of new content. October has been great for fans of scary media thanks to the addition of all nine episodes of The Haunting of Bly Manor, Adam Sandler’s horror-comedy Hubie Halloween, and the grotesque Rob Zombie flick House of 1000 Corpses. And when you add in the recent selection of classics like Gran Torino, Her and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, you’ve got enough to keep you busy for quite a while.
Of course, the streaming platform isn’t done yet and today is packed full of fresh movies and shows for you to sort through, including an often overlooked horror film and a brand new historical legal drama based on a true story.

As we get closer and closer to Halloween, most people’s attention will be focused on the spookiest day of the year and the onslaught of horror content that always comes with it, but streaming services have always delivered on the idea of being an entertainment buffet, providing movies and TV shows from all across the spectrum to guarantee that subscribers have something to watch at all times.
Netflix have been no different, and while recently launched titles like Hubie Halloween and The Haunting of Bly Manor are definitely aimed at the Halloween crowd, they couldn’t be more different in terms of how they approach the tropes of the genre. However, it isn’t all about scaring people senseless, and the platform has some great films and TV series arriving over the next seven days that prove that.
