The character of MI6 Agent Fields (Gemma Arterton) in Quantum of Solace (2008) is a tribute to the Bond girls of the 1960s, notably Tracy Bond from On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) and Goldfinger (1964)'s Pussy Galore, both of which are Atherton's favorite performances. Gemma Arterton described Fields as "not as frolicsome or femme-fatale as other Bond girls, but is instead fresh and young."
Strawberry Fields (aka Agent Fields) is a red-headed Bond Girl and in Quantum of Solace (2008) she's the fifth major redheaded Bond Girl in the official James Bond series. The others in the series were Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi) in Thunderball (1965); Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) in Diamonds Are Forever (1971); Helga Brandt (Karin Dor) in You Only Live Twice (1967); and Tracy di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969).
Strawberry Fields, one of the Bond girls in Quantum of Solace (2008), was previously also the same name of a character thirty years earlier in the Beatles movie musical Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) played by Sandy Farina. In this movie, her character was derived from the Beatles Song "Strawberry Fields Forever". Strawberry Fields in this context refers to the Liverpool Salvation Army Orphanage near where John Lennon spent his childhood.
Originally, Agent Fields' character (played by Gemma Arterton) was known as Strawberry Fields, but is only referred to as Agent Fields throughout the movie. She has red hair, like strawberries. Strawberry Fields can be considered a typical Ian Fleming-esque moniker. Arterton has reportedly based her character on a number of 1960s Bond Girls, particularly Pussy Galore and Tracy di Vicenzo, on whose hairstyle Arterton based Fields' hair on.
The full name of Gemma Arterton's character in Quantum of Solace (2008) is never revealed in the film. She is referred to only as 'Fields'. Her full name is given in the film's credits and publicity documents as 'Strawberry Fields.'
