A surprisingly good episode for the secret Jar Jar fan
nbrettel14 April 2020
In response to the question of "Who ever thinks it's a good idea to bring Jar Jar Binks on a mission?", I must say ( I am sorry Jar Jar haters) surprising and refreshingly funny. There is a point to the story, as Jar Jar, a goofy character, does the surprising - he disguises himself as a Jedi to save his friend, Padmé. The comical chemistry between Jar Jar and C-3PO works perfectly as C-3PO serves as the prim and proper "straight man" while Jar Jar is the bumbling, emotionally expressive goof who wants to help his friends. This episode clearly shows the three strengths of Jar Jar's character that has been overlooked by most of the Star Wars fans' hatred towards him -- his childlike honesty, unadulterated loyalty and his wide range of emotion.

This episode is peppered with witty quips (on 3PO's part) and outrageous slapstick (in the forms of Jar Jar falling down a tower, with only a bungee-like vine tangled around his foot to break his fall and Jar Jar and C-3PO trying to communicate with Rhodia's wildlife... with painfully embarrassing, yet juicily funny results.)

This episode also shows great character development. For example, Padmé, the strong-willed heroine of the Clone Wars, finds herself in need of rescuing. Meanwhile, Jar Jar finds himself unwilling to stand idly by as his friend and fellow senator is captured. In the end, the cowardly Gungan finds the courage to save his friends from the Separatists. He also hits the nail on the head a couple of times, including the most prominent point that Padmé is in trouble - a point that level-headed C-3PO fails to notice.

As a secret Jar Jar fan, I always found him funny, even memorable. I never understood that while everybody hated him, I found myself liking him. Either something is wrong with me or not, Jar Jar should have gotten praise rather than backlash... since most comic relief characters are usually idiotic or tending to make illogical decisions. But then... I might be wrong. But I know one thing - Jar Jar was obviously made to be a comical character and this series, especially this episode, has done him justice.

This episode is worth looking at... if you are a secret Jar Jar fan.

Please do yourself a favor, don't mind these critics

I don't understand why everyone hates Jar Jar Binks. It could be bad character for this franchise, yes. And you can hate him, i agree. But you cannot rate this episode with one point because of Jar Jar. You don't have to like it but you should have respect for the crew of this episode. Don't be grumpy and have fun. It's just an episode of Clone Wars. Out of this, There is many episodes that you can watch.

Please do yourself a favor and skip this episode.

Who ever thinks it's a good idea to bring Jar Jar Binks on a mission? No one. There is no point in watching this episode. It's not connected to the overall story in any important way, it's far from entertaining or exciting, it has fart jokes and loud screams for comedy, and it's quite simply the most irritating episode of the entire show.

Just skip this one.

Bad Jedi
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic26 April 2020
This episode is less about the force and more of a farce but not a really terrible one.

It is a total zany cartoon that is like a bugs bunny comedy at times instead of a Star Wars adventure. I had a pretty bad reaction to it at first, especially to Jar Jar but on repeat viewing I have decided it is reasonably pleasant and harmless. It is probably pretty sweet and funny for some kids but to be honest my 9 year old was not that impressed and I wasn't either. It is not awful but just has too many over the top elements.

I love C3PO but the dialogue he is given here is mostly not that funny and he is treated like a Tom & Jerry character getting bounced and thrown around on occasion. As for Jar Jar well he is farcical as always with annoying dialogue but a couple of more charming moments for kids enjoyment.

A disappointing episode considering the high standard of this show but I will give it some credit for being not totally without charm, especially for children. I just am not a fan of the show tipping over the edge into full cartoon mayhem which this does at times.

My rating: 6/10.

Viceroy Gunray is an Idiot, Battle Droids are Idiots, Jar Jar Binks is an Idiot and this entire episode is one big idiot. I know why George Lucas created that floppy eared Doofus. But why did Qui-Gon Jinn have to save his life? Qui-Gon was an Idiot Too.

I hate Jar Jar. He should've died in the first prequel movie, or should've never existed in the first place.

The Redemption of Jar Jar Binks
milesmark15 March 2021
A lot of people seem to not like this episode because of Jedi Master Binks. My problem is with Nute Gunray! Why doesn't someone kill this guy? He never negotiates! This seems like a bad trait for someone leading a trade organization. We have lost some great characters through the years and this guy keeps on keeping on!

This was a bad episode even without Jar Jar
charlied23425 December 2020
But he pushed it over the top and made it one of the worst pieces of Star Wars media I've ever seen. He's somehow as incompetent as in Episode 1 and maybe the most annoying he's ever been.

Jar Jar at his best, pure Clone Wars magic

This episode is one of my favourites from the entire series, it's a fun adventure from start to end with some of the best Jar Jar moments ever, showing his heart is in the right place. Padmé and 3PO are also great, the dynamic between these three characters really works. Rodia looks awesome and the music has one of the best tracks in the whole show.

I'm no Jar Jar hater, but c'mon.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't have an issue with Jar Jar from the film, but I DO understand the dislike after this episode. It's almost like the producers of this, knowing he was not a liked character, went out of their way to insure that opinion was kept up and he remained eye-rolling and cringe-worthy. On top of that...the vaguely racist and unlikable Vireroy....and the whole Roger-Roger goofy battle droids getting old REALLY quick....the whole mess feels very juvenile..the humour old and stale. Only redeeming factor...the Rodians (one of my fave alien designs) didn't end up shooting first (😉).

Jar Jar is the worst character in the history of fiction, not sure who decided it was a good idea to add him into this episode.

Jar Jar is the best Star Wars charater
Funsickus20 December 2020
I don't usually rate episodes but for all those Jar Jar haters out there you know nothing about amazing charaters. Jar Jar is the best charater of star wars and shone again in this episode. He was just as funny as in the first film. You can't have enough Jar Jar. And him teaming up with C3po is just the best team up. The only minor thing which I dislike about this episode is how is Padme's suit completely repeared without signs of it every being destroyed in the arena battle. Apart from that great episode.

Bombad Jedi
lassegalsgaard6 February 2021
As much respect as I have for Ahmed Best, I have never held back in my dislike for Jar Jar Binks, and despite being a show that I mostly love, it did not make his appearance better. By far the weakest episode there has been this far, mostly because of the unnaturally stupid presence of Jar Jar. The episode is accompanied by a classic political thriller premise, but the jarring humor just violently rips out all the suspense of the episode. The episode was highly focused on Jar Jar as well, so you cannot really look at the episode and say that it would have been good without him. There were few redeeming qualities in this episode, and it can only go one way from here, and that is most definitely up. Call me a hater if you want to; I will happily embrace that moniker here.

Entertaining but skippable
Koracta12 May 2021
Even though the jar-jar binks/C3PO scenes are entertaining, and sure are fun to watch for the kids that this show was aimed at, you really miss nothing skipping this episode, which makes it kinda useless.
