A real decent movie
aktowfik29 December 2008
Due to financial restraint, Egyptian Cinema has a very narrow range of choices. Most films focus on attracting youth to regain the expenses spent on filming, namely making action movies and comedy. This is one of very few films in Egyptian film history that explore the world of metaphysics. With a shoe string budget, the director manages to make a very well credible and respectable picture. He has a great sense of light, many obsessions related to time and streams of storytelling, and he knows how to direct his actors. Amr Salama is one of the few auteurs in Egyptian Cinema, and he wrote the film, edited and directed it. If he was in America he would have become a famous indie director or another Christopher Nolan. This is a movie you should see if you are able to find, for it shows how art can create beauty even in the absence of big names, CGI or big scenes. Just humans acting naturally .. For foreign cine goers, this film gives you a very good Panorama about drug problem among Egyptian youth . all done very beautifully ..
