This clearly unscripted movie performed by reluctant non-actors, playing themselves had movie bomb written all over it. But somehow this movie works. It is funny and entertaining, despite itself. Perhaps deep down, we see these flawed, fat characters as ourselves. We laugh and cry on the inside as Boss Hogg, Rinaldo and Johnny drink, swear, eat, fight and travel through the neon lit cities of Nashville, Memphis and Las Vegas looking for meaning to their meaningless little lives. Their performances are memorable in their crudeness and boorishness. Director Smiciklas and writer Cerritos, through these three hopeless knaves not knights, expose with wit and natural humour the hollowing out of the middle class American Dream during the Trump era.
