purple power

Cavegirl partakes of an exotic fruit and accidentally (through horrendous 'table manners'?) turns her entire face, forehead and all, purple... just as Stone Crazy the rock group comes to play. Everybody's in a snit about her purple visage. But Cavegirl decides to wear her purple flag with pride.

I knew about this episode because of research done before purchasing the "Cavegirl Rocks" set, for it is mentioned on the show's entry on Wikipedia.

What a lot they are. Gran is a deeply dippy old coot who ain't got no flowers growing over her yet. Always up for a bit of fun, however slim her chances might be to get whirled about by the rock stars. Mum is, despite many, many mistakes, the wiser, mostly dependable one. She's the one standing by her daughter, comforting her when she weeps about her purple face. Big Sis (couldn't they give her a proper name? only Cavegirl and Little Brother would have called her that) can be very self-absorbed and even nasty. The worthless lot poor Cavegirl calls friends... It seems only Roast is worth something.

The Mirror Man set-up. Cute. Needed in a time before mirrors were actually invented. Had they not heard of reflections in pools, though?

And about washing fruit-juice off their faces? (after all, notice Cavegirl's elaborate hairdo - she looks like she's had a visit to a hair salon despite the prehistoric setting, so they're not exactly strangers to taking care of themselves)

The rock-stars. All that sound. Those drum beats. With no equipment and non-existent amplifiers. Hilarious. And check out the very cute blond band girl.

Cute. Kiddie's show, but there's a transcending of its limitations here by the spirit of its presentation.
