A reference is made to a "Christmas moon" being the second full moon in December. This is supposed to occur on Christmas eve. Since the time between full moons is 29.5 days, for it to occur on December 24 is impossible. A second full moon can only occur on either the 30th or 31st in December. This would also make it impossible for December 18th to be a Christmas Moon (2nd full moon in the month of December).
The engraving on the clock says if it is wound during the "Christmas Moon" the person will find their true love. However the full moon during December is called the Cold Moon in America or the Yule Moon in Europe. So it is unlikely that a clock built prior to 1903 would use the term "Christmas Moon", if built in America or in Europe.
The only full moon in December of 1903 was on December 4th. There was no second full moon in December of 1903, and it was not a full moon on Dec 18th 1903.
when the sheriff takes Charles away, Charles's window is down. while this allows the audience to see his dejected expression, no law enforcement officer would transport a prisoner with the window down as they could easily escape.
Dan, another "actor" at the mansion, mentions that he studied "with Strasberg" and his wife went to Julliard. Julliard was founded in 1905 and Lee Strasberg began teaching method acting in 1925, so Charles would not have heard of either of them. Rather than allegedly knowing what they are, he simply assumed they were prestigious acting schools based on context.
Charles says the second full moon in December, or a "Blue Moon" in December is the "Christmas Moon". In 1903 the accepted definition of Blue Moon was the 13th moon of the year. The definition of the Blue Moon as the second full moon in a month did not start until 1946 following an article in Sky and Telescope by James Hugh Pruett.
The clothing and hairstyles of the women in the "period" portions of the film are completely wrong. In 1903 the "Gibson Girl" look was still in fashion, and what is seen onscreen is NOTHING like that. Every single detail is incorrect.
Charles tells the sheriff his DOB was June 1807, but he disappeared December 1903. That would have made him 104 years old when he disappeared.
