B movie that sometimes goes to A, sometimes goes to C
thorndamien31 May 2014
I enjoyed it. I did. I am a big fan of horror and i have seen "almost" all horror movies.

First, for futur filmmakers, Do not use CGI if you can use good old school effects. Don't be lazy.

Pros: The girls were sexy and scary! Just a bit of boobs. Not a lot of gore, but OK. Great picture quality, it surprised me.

Cons: coherence of plot and of characters. CGI Some Scenes look to clean.

Not for everybody, there are better movies available, but for a fan of B movies. It was good.

Annoying lead actress
darrenk-6121931 May 2020
I had to write a review because I needed to stop anyone from attempting to watch this crap. I love B movies and there were a few good moments, (Ranger did his thing) but the annoyance with Michelle and her bad acting, pissed me off. Haunting at Foster Cabin "had" potential, but fell short trying too much.

Sexy naked young women do not make scary demons
Stenun8 December 2019
I don't care how much an eager actress is jerking her body around, covered in make up and with the camera sped up. If the young lady in question is naked or even just topless then the effect is just humourous. And that pretty much sums up the entire film. Which, if they hadn't tried to play it straight, might have made for an enjoyable schlocky romp. Instead, you just watch disbelievingly as actresses try to deliver lines like "Oh my gosh, there is nothing up here but trees" with a straight face and then sing a "dare song" at each other when the plot needs one of them to do something stupid but the writers couldn't figure out how else to have them do it. And as for the ending ... well, this review doesn't contain spoilers but suffice to say the ending is worse than anything I've already covered. The only thing that stops me from giving this film a 1 is that some of the actresses are really trying very hard. It's just a shame that the rest of the film wasn't worthy of their efforts.

A horror turkey, of epic proportions.
RatedVforVinny12 November 2019
This might be the very worst film I ever sat through (well to the bitter end). It plays out like a third rate 'Evil Dead' with the most wooden acting and the very lamest special effects. There are just a handful of films I struggle to fined any merit in whatsoever and 'Demon Legacy' is unfortunately one.

Terrible
SAPHFIREY-BLUE22 September 2019
It could have been a good film, but the acting and effects were rubbish. The storyline had the potential to be good, but it failed. The effects were poor though I am amazed at how white the nightie managed to stay. No wonder they changed the name for the UK market.

Same Old Formulaic Crap...
tmccull5223 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Is there no originality, no creativity left in the horror genre? Except for the cast, this movie is almost exactly like 8,000 others before it:

A group of friends gather in a remote location to support a member of the group in emotional need or distress.

A member of said group either has some supernatural or psychic ability, or a familiarity with the occult... seance or Ouija board, anyone?

One member of the group has an unrequited crush on another member of the group.

The answer to every problem is to drink to obliteration, smoke way too much weed, or both.

There's a blonde airhead.

There's the brash, cocky, borderline unlikeable one.

There's the supportive no matter what but kind of wishy-washy, weak-willed bestie.

There's the dare for someone to do something stupid and scary.

Someone finds a Ouija board or a cursed object, and everyone decides that they just have to play with it.

Of course, there's no cell service.

The group of friends are supposed to be life-long, busom buddies, but pick fights and argue with one another at every opportunity.

This film checks all of the requisite boxes, and offers nothing that hasn't been done a bazillion times before. All of the actresses are Victoria's Secret lingerie model pretty, and that is all that this movie has to offer.

Is this the stupidest movie that I've ever seen? No, that honor would go to "Midnight Macabre". "Midnight Macabre" makes "Haunting at Foster Cabin" look like "Sophie's Choice", or "To Kill a Mockingbird". This is faint praise, at best, for "Haunting...", however.

Go watch grass grow. Go watch paint dry. You'll be more entertained and better served than watching this film.

OK but not good
ezra-5217220 January 2017
This movie was OK, but not good. The acting was OK, and the story line was descent. While I love sexy sorority girls in horror movies, the movie lacked coherence and a sense of direction and purpose. There were numerous occasions during the course of the movie where it failed miserably to connect the dots. I found myself having to try to connect the dots myself on a board where the dots were scattered like the stars at night. As the movie was drawing to a close, a characters unceremoniously showed up from left field. Trying to make sense where certain characters fit into to the movie as a whole was like trying to hammer a round peg into a rectangular hole. In the end, the movie seems to fall flat like a cake made with no eggs. I rendered it a 4 because an honest effort was made to turn this B horror into a -A horror movie.

Evil Dead rip-off
Leofwine_draca3 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
HAUNTING AT FOSTER CABIN is a cheap and cheerful indie knock-off of THE EVIL DEAD, with a bunch of college girls heading off to a mountain lodge and accidentally summoning up a nasty case of demonic possession. It plays out very much like the Raimi flick, albeit with added-in CGI spook effects which look ridiculous and reminded me of that terrible HAUNTING remake. The film adds in extra nudity but doesn't really deliver on the gore, making it a somewhat tame experience at times. Crucially, it's also completely non-frightening, so you watch it to laugh at it and that's it.

A watered down "Evil Dead" knock off...
paul_haakonsen25 September 2022
I had never heard about this 2014 horror movie titled "Demon Legacy" prior to sitting down here in 2022 to watch it. And of course I had to watch it on the account of it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen.

Director Rand Vossler delivered something that felt a tad too much inspired by the classic "Evil Dead" movies. But hey, if you haven't already seen the original 1981 "Evil Dead" movie then you might actually find a shred of enjoyment and entertainment in "Demon Legacy". However, I have seen "Evil Dead" many times, so "Demon Legacy" wasn't really cutting it for me.

The storyline in the movie was pretty straight forward, although somewhat on the generic and boring side, if I have to be honest. And I actually started to drift off around an hour into the foray. So yeah, this movie wasn't really entertaining me.

Of the entire cast ensemble in "Demon Legacy", I was only familiar with John Savage, and he wasn't in the movie for all that long. And that was a shame, because he could have spruced up the movie, and trust me, that was necessary, and the movie would have benefitted from having John Savage more on the screen.

Visually then "Demon Legacy" was adequate. I mean, you're not in for anything grand here in terms of special effects or CGI, but whatever special effects were in the movie actually served their purpose well enough. But again, a watered down "Evil Dead" movie is what comes to mind here.

If you are a newcomer to the horror genre, then you might get some kind of entertainment out of this 2014 horror movie. But for a horror veteran such as myself, then "Demon Legacy" was a mere walk in the park.

My rating of "Demon Legacy" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

Like a Weird Fever Dream
icocleric20 August 2023
The plot was like a weird fever dream, in the worst way, and made little sense. It tried to push too much in the same script. The lines of this film was so bad, especially from the lead's Grandma. I love B-Movies, but this was just terrible.

All the budget for this film was to get John Savage, and AnnaMaria Demara as actors. Who both put in a good effort. But the story was so cliché, and not only had nothing new to add to the horror genre, but it was an Evil Dead knock off.

But so cliché it was dull. There was a lot of nudity for the sake of nudity too. Which I don't mind nudity, but this film was clearly trying to use it to distract from how bad it was. Rather than actually have a story that made sense.

Something I would recommend.
Patient44423 May 2014
But hear me out: first of all, the effect are simply laughable, bad, incredibly weak and cheap, even for an 80's movie! I know it sounds like a joke, but it's not, bear this in mind, the effects will be something to bring a smile instead of fascination or anything else. Secondly, the ending will look rather stupid, but it takes a little patience, cause there is more than meets the eye.

Now that I put down the bad parts, let me tell you why I would recommend it: it lacks jump scares, but it has that old school tension, it frightens you as you watch and see what happens, your eyes are stuck to the glass and your heart rate is growing, little by little. It made me feel like an 14 years old kid again, watching his first scary "in the woods" movie. So for this great touch, I graded it a 6, sure, some will say it's way too much, but for me it really did the trick. Got me wanting more, waiting patiently to see what happens next, even the ending was something I craved for. So I was there, from the beginning to its end, felt quite good too. It was like a blast in the past, and for that I am thankful to everyone involved in the making of "Demon Legacy".

Now that you know what to expect, it's up to you to decide if you'll take it for a watch or not, but I'm telling you, it's great for a late night movie, alone or with friends, with something to chew on and some drinks. It made my night!

Cheers!

Standard witch/demon fair. The demon girls were neat, not necessarily scary. Plot is similar to many other films, but it goes smoothly. Actresses are all very good looking and lead actress shows off her exemplary body numerous times.

DEMONS CAN'T BE TAKEN LIGHTLY
nogodnomasters26 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is another cabin in the woods story. Michelle (AnnaMaria Demara) who takes meds has bad dreams about girls with bad hair and nasty contacts. They are so bad she wakes up with her high beams on. On top of all of that her bf Randy (Grant Alan Ouzts) has been cheating on her. She heads out to the family house and her four Delta sisters show up to comfort her...and play Ouija board in the demonically possessed cabin.

Dana (Michelle Nunes) has a bf Brian who she thinks is different from all the other guys.

Kelly (Jamie Strange) is our token blond who get nervous when they talk about Randy. She just broke up with her boyfriend who was "just a guy."

Jackie (Kate Siegel) likes Kelly who doesn't return the love.

Sharon (Kati Sharp) makes the film worth while. She likes to play jokes.

The film goes very well building character. I really started liking Sharon and then it happened. Possession is 6/10 ths of the film and it wasn't very good. They gave the possessed girls goofy make up and sped up the camera when they moved as if they had broken bones or something. The film had a 5 star build up and then went stupid with too much too soon.

Parental Guide: F-bomb. Nudity (AnnaMaria Demara, Cortney Palm, Kate Siegel)
