- When Pepe "Joe" Aguilar teamed up with his longtime friend and former film producer Marco-Antonio to help assist in navigating the treacherous waters of Hollywood in search of the best deal for Joe's sure to be Oscar award winning screenplay, he had no idea what was in store. Joe's lifelong dream of becoming a respected screenwriter seemed within reach. Joe was an outsider in "LaLa Land," and Marco-Antonio moved fast, calling on all connections and getting the word out on the success of Joe's script in the film festival circuit. Without Marco-Antonio's savvy Hollywood sense, Joe soon found himself agreeing and signing a "partnership" contract which ultimately leads to zero ownership. When Joe realized his script was no longer his, he was devastated. The decades of endless writing sessions and sacrifice were gone. Greed had gotten the best of Joe, and with nowhere to turn, Joe confides in Memo, a fellow employee and friend at a restaurant where the two worked. Memo takes pity on Joe and recommends having his Tio look into helping him. His Tio Armando is a respected businessman and great problem solver. A desperate Joe is all in, and even offers to split whatever the script sells for with Armando. Tio Armando comes through and gets Joe the rights to the script back. However, a miscommunication has Joe owing Armando a large sum of money for which Joe does not have... Unfortunately for Joe, Tio Armando is actually Armando "El Muerto" Ochoa, the most ruthless drug lord walking the earth... Now Joe must contend with Armando, and Armando has plans for Joe since they're now "partners." Wealthy people want to be famous, and famous People want to be wealthy.
