Julia's Dating Game
gregorycanfield3 October 2021
Julia wins a date with a boxer (!) She should have commissioned him to punch out that kid of hers! Marc Copage (Cory) was an absolutely terrible actor. Not only did he deliver his lines with no feeling, but he was almost always shouting. The opening scene between Diahann and Terry Carter is interesting, but it's ruined by the presence of her intrusive, obnoxious son. As to the contest, Julia would be the obvious choice for any man with eyes in his head. However, she didn't really need to enter the contest. Julia and Carter's character came across like a nice couple. The episode plays out in a predictable way. I don't know where they found Marc Copage, but he was a liability. There were always many talented child actors. Too bad that they didn't find one to play Julia's son. Cory's friend Earl was another example of bad casting. Overall, an OK episode, improved by Diahann Carroll's sheer presence.
