It's been three months since Ronald made his escape, but the memory of what happened lingers on on both sides where the slightest triggers make Ronald and Cassie flinch. But equally, Jerrie can feel that Ronald has reentered her life. On a more official front, the US Marshal's Department has a new lead investigator on the case, he who may be more frustrating especially for Cassie than helpful. Ronald, under an assumed name and new look, has begun a relationship with single mother Scarlet Leyendecker, certain aspects of her background which add to the reason she was chosen, including being a solitary person beyond being doting mother to adolescent Phoebe. On the other side, Jenny and Cassie have resorted to cheating spouses cases to pay the bills, their latest client Naomi Hedley who believes her husband Alan Hedley's secrecy is a sign that he is having an affair. In following him to a motel, Jenny and Cassie discover something else going on that is not spousal cheating but what exactly it is they are unsure besides knowing that it is potentially deadly. In meeting Naomi's father, Bruce Stone, for the first time, they know that he is involved in whatever is going on with Alan.
