Bones is Nolan's Ex-Wife?? Yes, Please.
SourCandyOrNoCandy5 May 2022
I recognised Emily Deschanel's voice before I recognised her face. Bones is one of my favourite TV shows so seeing her in this made me so so happy!

Best parts of the episode?

  • "So what? They're recruiting cops in the modelling schools now? I can't tell which one of you is prettier." "Clearly me." Absolutely loved those lines!

  • Man of honour Tim. I already know that I'll love every single episode where he gets to do things related to Lopez's wedding.

  • I love that Nolan respected Henry's choice for the surgery.

Worst parts of the episode?

  • I miss the light-hearted aspects of The Rookie. This was a good episode, but it definitely wasn't the classic The Rookie I know and love.

  • I feel like I shouldn't be annoyed with Lopez in this episode but I am.

Gathering in Shaw Memorial
claudio_carvalho29 October 2021
In the Shaw Memorial, Nolan and Abigail meet Sarah while waiting for the results of Henry exams to decide how will be his surgery. Meanwhile, Lopez and Wesley are waiting for the obstetrician consultation when she learns that La Fiera and her beloved son Diego are also in the hospital for a surgery on his knee. But when Lopez discovers that the drug pin Tomás Madrigal is terminal in the same hospital, she suspects that La Fiera has the intention to make a deal with Tomás and she teams-up with Harper to investigate the meeting of the dangerous drug dealers. Meanwhile Tim meets his addicted old friend Mack Daniels hired by Cesar Madrigal to work as bodyguard of his father Tomás.

"Brave Heart" is an episode of "The Rookie" without comedy and with crime and drama. The storylines are only reasonable and not engaging as the episodes of Season 1 and 2 of this series. It is hard to guess where the authors wish to go with this show after the rookie period of the lead cast. My vote is seven.

Emily Deschanel!!!

Warning: Spoilers
As always, another great episode,BUT what a refreshing surprise to see Emily Deschanel make an all too brief appearance. How I miss "Bones" and hearing her wonderful voice and,of course, great acting. For a moment there,I thought I was watching a crossover episode of "Bones/The Rookie" (wishful thinking) and,was expecting David Boreanaz to appear any moment! Unfortunately not so! All in all,an enjoyable moment.

BAD CASTING can DESTROY a show
awbusa9 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Tv shows have to stop casting EMILY DESCHANEL because she can't act for crap & isn't attractive to most of us male viewers - the whole bringing in DRUG CARTEL & RIGHT WING WHITE SUPREMACISTS is unnecessary & subtracts from the series premise - my episode score 7 STARS ⭐ out of 10 STARS ⭐

This show has really lost its way
altereggo1235 May 2021
This was once a fun show about rookie police learning the ropes, making mistakes, and fighting crime. There was a little melodrama and a little humor, but it was still basically a police show.

Now, it doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be a soap opera, a woke after-school special, or a hospital drama. It did manage to squeeze in a few seconds of an inept, bargain basement rip-off of The Queen of the South (a show about a female cartel leader), but it was entirely unconvincing.

The show needs to recapture the freshness of characters learning the ropes, whether as rookies or rookie detectives/undercover cops. It can't happen soon enough, as the last few episodes have been painful to watch.

They've Lost the Plot
supermodelyum7 January 2022
This season has had a lot of problems.

Frankly, I've grown tired of listening to Chen whine for a hug in every scene. She behaves like a petulant child rather than a woman who's maturely pushed herself through the training academy. (Let's face it, with her neediness, insecurity & body type, she'd never have gotten over the 6 foot fence or through the incredibly strenuous physical fitness program). - Training Academy's require cadet officers to be tased, CS gassed (tear gas) & pepper-sprayed. Chen being a whining, overly sensitive "fragile" personality would have gotten over her little-girl drama or failed out. - As would anyone in military boot camp.

In this episode Chen, who has previously brought a dog into the apartment without consulting West (resulting in the dog destroying all of West's possessions) becomes upset when West is suspicious that their new homeless-car-thief-roommate might have stolen a prized possession. She forces West to feel guilty and to apologize while never taking responsibility herself ( or apologizing) for lying to him about her involvement. - Typical Chen manipulation. Exhausting.

It seems that the writers have grown bored with their original purpose of the show. The focus seems to be increasingly shifted away from the stated plot of the series, the "story of the oldest rookie" in favor of story about everyone BUT him.

I'm pretty sure most people came to watch this show because it had Nathan Fillion. The first two seasons also treated us to some wonderful cameos by actors like Alan Tudyk, Ali Larter, Sarah Sahi, Enver Gjokaj and others from Firefly to Battlestar Galactica, Justified, Supernatural, Dollhouse etc.. We got a lot of comedy, drama and insight into the characters without getting too dark, too preachy or too ridiculous. This season we get Emily Deschanel (her character was so annoying in Bones), in depth family drama with baby & wedding drama, roommate drama, poorly constructed preachy political scenarios and more time in hospitals than most police ever spend.

Shame. The show had become a favorite in our house until this tattered season.

Another poor episode
acostaandrew-513774 May 2021
The previous episode was the worst I've seen, but this one is also bad, maybe worse. For some reason the writers thought long drawn out hospital scenes would "entertain" people. They need to get back out in the streets with less drama and more action.

The show lost it's way!

Is this now a medical? It seems they experimenting on the screen. Every episode a new version but not a good one. It could have been a soft version of SOUTHLAND but now it's all over the place with no clear idea where to land...sad!
