Peter says that Hollywood awards movies where right-wing characters can admit they're wrong, like in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), Green Book (2018), Driving Miss Daisy (1989) and American History X (1998). He then challenges his family to name a movie (and it doesn't have to be an awards winner) where a left-wing character takes on more conservative views, in which no one can answer. However, in the film Death Wish (1974), the protagonist Paul Kersey is a "bleeding heart liberal" (as stated in the movie) who at first sympathizes with impoverished people who commit criminal acts out of desperation. However, after his family is attacked, Paul Kersey becomes a vigilante who then believes in unlimited punishment to criminals. At the time of the film's release, "Death Wish" was embraced by right-wingers but was vilified by critics on the left, as the philosophy of vigilantism is more embraced by the right than it is by the left. So, Peter was indeed mistaken.
