An Amazing Psychological Thriller
jkerns081 April 2009
This movie was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I got a copy of this movie and wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away. It has everything you would want in a scary movie: ghosts, murder, a crazy father, and a spooky church. The movie really makes you think back to the 1980's horror movies that have the deranged killer haunting a family, but this movie takes it one step further. I don't want to ruin the movie for you, but trust me it is a great flick.

The DVD has some great bonus material. It has a very in depth behind the scenes documentary with the writer/director that explains how several aspects of the movie were written and filmed. Definitely worth your time.

Campy low-budget horror with a great performance.

Warning: Spoilers
In no way a blood fest, BAD GHOST does contain flashes of gore to sharpen the edge of the back story, which is murder, and the crazed killer's attempt to reunite with his dead family.

Declared legally insane after murdering his family, the killer is locked in an asylum. Years later he escapes and goes in search of his family, but is killed in a freak accident before locating them. After his death he becomes the bad ghost of the title as his evil spirit is attached to a dysfunction family, with all hell breaking loose as he makes life miserable for them. As played by Bill Hutton, this ghost is bad. The question does arise, "do dead men actually chase young girls?" In this case the answer is a most definite yes!

Mr. Hutton certainly deserves an award for his over the top grotesque performance, highlighted in one sequence by his slow waltz down winding stairs to the sleeping girl's basement bedroom. His weird makeup, plus smoke and lights, should have scared the bejeebies out of the young actress, and possibly did.

Near the movie's end the girl, played by Jennifer Salmi, is rescued from a flooded grave by her boy friend, played by Keith Lee Morris. They walk to his hippie van parked at the edge of the woods, embrace and kiss as the credits roll.

At the end of the final credits, a most unusual dedication is made, which personifies the very essence of camp. It is mind-blowing, to say the least. As an extra bonus the DVD has a 25 minute making of subject which will be of value to anyone interested in low-budget or independent film making.
