Two weeks before the planned broadcast (Dec.13, 1986), the TV-production was stopped by the authors Per Olov Enquist and Anders Ehnmark, who claimed that the text had been rewritten without their knowledge. The head of SVT TV-theater, Kewe Zahr, on the other hand, claimed that the production was being canceled because it had turned out "a damn bad product".
"Furstespegel" (Mirrors of Princes), form a literary genre, in a loose sense of the word, of political writing during the Early Middle Ages, Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and are part of the broader speculum or mirror literature genre.
Instead, of being broadcasted by SVT2 the production was performed by Stockholm City Theatre, where it premiered in February 6, 1987, directed by Sven Wollter.
