Bernie's Aunt Ruthie (Nancy Walker, "Rhoda") is coming to visit. The Steinbergs are concerned about how she will respond to Bridget and her non-Jewish background. Bridget offers to play the part of a Jewish wife. When Aunt Ruthie insists on meeting Bridget's parents the couple try to talk the Fitzgeralds into pretending to be Jewish. Amy thinks it would be fun for her birthday and gets Walt to agree. Mike talks Bridget's Aunt Agnes (Nora Marlowe), a Catholic nun, into visiting for his mother's birthday. When the Steinbergs go to the Fitzgeralds for dinner, a collision seems inevitable.
In my opinion, this is another episode where an idea is overplayed to fill the allotted time. Many episodes to this point have been just one concept with a lean, linear plot. A nice message comes through at the end in this offering, however.
