- Jeff, Lynn, Anissa, Peter, and TC meet at the Sanctum and Jeff insists that Jennifer is still alive. Peter says that the ionosphere overloaded Jennifer's body and killed her. Jeff figures that Jen was turned into energy, and Anissa agrees with him. Lynn warns that there's a difference between matter and living matter.
TC accesses the Starlink satellite and confirms that there's something going on with energy in the ionosphere. Jeff figures that proves Jen is still alive, and Peter has TC access the satellite's live feed to their monitors. They spot a small cluster of energy particles coming together, and Jeff figures that it's Jenn. Lynn warns that Jeff can't absorb Jen's energy, and Peter warns that an influx of that much energy could kill him.
Pet warns that they still have to reconstitute Jen's energy into matter, and they'd need a Hadron Particle Condenser. There's one at STAR Lab in Central City, but they can't get it there in time. Jeff says that Flash can get it there, and once Flash delivers it, Peter hooks it up into his device. He tells Jeff that he has to absorb Jen's energy, and gives him a wrist unit for his costume. Jeff puts it on and dons his costume, then leaves.
Black Lightning flies into the ionosphere near the cluster of energy particles. The hero absorbs the energy, and TC warns the others that Black Lightning's vitals are dropped. Peter warns that the suit can't regulate the energy, and Black Lightning screams in pain as the energy flows through his suit. He passed out and falls down to Earth.
Peter blasts high-frequency tones into Black Lightning's earpieces to jar him awake. The hero finally wakes up and finally manages to break his fall just in time. He tells the others that he's okay.
Red sees Black Lightning's fiery re-entry and tells Tobias, who checks Katie and discovers that Black Lightning is responsible. Red levitates a coin and throws it across the world telekinetically, and Tobias tells him that he may have to earn his money.
At the Sanctum, Peter transfers the energy into the condenser but warns that it will take time to reconstitute Jen's body. Jeff insists that Jen is alive, but Peter tells him that they have to prepare for the worst. Jeff insists that he's fine.
Anissa asks TC if he's okay, and tells him not to put it all on his shoulders. TC says that he knew Jen was going up into the ionosphere, and he wonders if the process is going to work. Grace calls Anissa, and Anissa ignores the call and tells TC that she's just going on faith.

The chief says that it's time to put a face to the vigilante problem. Lopez says that she's naming Hassan head of the Meta Task Force. Hassan says that he's going to have to pass, and wants to be solving major cases. Lopez isn't interested in his input and tells him not screw it up.
In the Sanctum, Jeff tells Lynn that he's not going anywhere. She admits that she should have told Jeff that she knew about Jen going up into the ionosphere, and Jeff figures that Jen is an addict just like Lynn. His wife tells him that Jeff is to blame for being wrapped up in his problems, and Jeff should move on from Bill's death. Lynn points out that Black Lightning has abandoned his city and his family, and walks off.
At a press conference, Lopez says that the 100 is responsible for the mayor's death, and an arrest warrant has been issued on Lala. The group at the Sanctum listen to the conference, and Lopez says that Lydell is another meta-casualty. She says that based on the evidence collected, Lightning is responsible. Anissa doesn't believe it, and Lynn glares at Jeff. Meanwhile, Lopez says that Lightning is now Freeland's Public Enemy Number One. She introduces Hassan as the head of the Meta Task Force.
Jeff says that he beat up Lydell, not Lightning. Lynn points out that Jeff won't put on the suit but goes out as a vigilante and beats up people. Lynn goes home, and Anissa follows her and finds her mother eating takeout and drinking. Grace calls Anissa again, and Anissa ignores it. Lynn says that she could have taken it, and Anissa tells Lynn that she'll call Grace back later and hasn't told her about Jen yet.
When Lynn asks Anissa how she's holding up, Anissa admits that she isn't sure how things will go with Jen. Lynn takes another glass of wine and claims that she's not doing meta-boosters. Anissa joins her mother in drinking.
At the Sanctum, Jeff sits next to the Condenser and watches. Peter says that will take another day and Jeff should get some sleep, and Jeff says that he keeps thinking about how Jen was 6 and with him at the grocery store. She walked off and Jeff eventually found her beneath a shelf. She hadn't known that Jeff was looking for her, Peter tells Jeff that they'll get through it together, and Jeff asks him if he agrees with Lynn that it's Jeff's fault.
Peter tells him that he doesn't, but Black Lightning has been gone far enough and has always been Freeland's hope. Jeff looks at the Condenser and says that they could all use a little hope.
Destiny calls Lala and she points out that many of his men are locked up. She figures that after Lopez is done with the 100, she'll come after Kobra Cartel. Lala refuses, and Destiny says that it isn't the time for a beef between them. Lala agrees that it's just a business and says that he'll set up a meeting. Once they're alone, Lala tells Devonte that they're going to flip the script, and Destiny has to die.
Anissa returns home and Grace asks why Grace didn't return her calls. Grace asks her to tell her what is going on so she can stop, pointing out that they're married now, and she points out that Anissa hasn't told her family that they're married. When Grace says that Anissa isn't letting her in, Anissa says that she's gotten used to being on her own and she loves Grace. Grace says that she loves Anissa, and Anissa asks her to be patient with her. After Grace agrees, she asks Anissa if she's okay. Anissa tells her about Jen.
Tobias tells Red that the Pierces are back together, and one must make an opponent commit. Val comes in, and tells Tobias that the project is on schedule but delays are projected due to Pierce family interference. Tobias tells her that it's unacceptable, and Val warns him that he's showing signs of obsession with the Pierces. Her boss tells her to stay on top of the project, and she says that he'll have what he wants he wants when he wants it.
Black Lightning goes to the arena gym and takes out two gangers. Lala comes in, aims a DEG at him, and says that if anyone dies, it won't be him. Black Lightning asks how much deaths he need, and Lala insists that no one in his gang killed Black but Tobias did. Lala warns that Tobias is coming for all of them, and Black Lightning tells him that they have to stop killing each other. Black Lightning drops his Lightning, and Lala says that it's good to have him back and walks out.
At the Sanctum, Jen is 92% reconstituted in body. TC is watching, and Peter comes in and asks if TC got any sleep. TC says all the machines are talking at once, and they don't know if Jen will be alive or dead. She only has a 24% chance of living. Peter says that they've done all they can do, and TC did what he thought was right.
Lynn finds Jeff in the kitchen of their house, and says that she shouldn't have said what she said earlier. They both apologize, and Lynn tells Jeff that he's done an amazing job raising their daughter. She says that Jeff has been a better father than she could have hoped for. Lynn breaks into tears, and Jeff hugs her and says that they'll make it together and Jen will be okay. Peter texts both of them to come to the Sanctum.

Jeff senses that something is wrong, Something moves inside and Lynn laughs in relief. Peter and TC open the condenser, and then draws back in shock. Everyone else stares at her, and they realize that Jen has been changed by her reconstitution.
