Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration while staying at The Graff House on the corner of Seventh and Market Streets. The house was named for it's owner, a local bricklayer, named Jacob Graff. That house has since been torn down, in 1883. It was completely rebuilt for the Bi-Centennial using drawings and photographs of the Original Structure and renamed "The Declaration House. It is now managed by the National Park Service and is open to the public.
