Finally Guy gets the answers he wants, but unfortunately some of the truths are upsetting. Guy has investigated and delved so much, that he's forced the killer's hand, it seems like everyone is implicated.
This is such a good conclusion, and as always with Frances Durbridge, the killer seems the most unlikely person. The plot knits together extremely well, and when you work the killer in to what's happened over the six episodes it makes sense, clever misdirection throughout. It's well acted, my only gripe with this one, as with the later remake is the glass of milk in the showdown, it's so ridiculous and should have been re-written or shot differently.
All in all though, it's well worth watching, a very interesting adaptation, although I personally prefer Peter barkworth in the role of Guy, he's much more convincing.
