Man against Woman running for office
ctyankee13 January 2010
This episode showed the difference in times how men could vote and not the women Dorcas Lane the postal lady runs against a man that used to live in Lark Rise and raised by Queenie. He is using Queenie and his old town connections to get the towns people to trust him and vote for him. There is kind of an uprise the women (most of them) supporting Dorcas and their husbands who can vote are supporting the man not because they think he is a good candidate but because he is a man. Good exchange.

There is character I really like who is steadfast in his humor and the way he portrays Thomas the Postman played by Mark Heap. Thomas, a Christian, Postman delivers the mail by foot and quotes Scripture as he assesses what he should do in his daily walk with the Lord. He loves his job and is offered a bicycle by Dorcas that she ordered and is not using. There is a scene of him walking on a country road with the bicycle by his side and his mailbag in the basket of the bike. He is afraid to try to ride it. Ms Lane is angry and tells him he took longer than most times and he had a bicycle to deliver the mail with. Thomsas' mannerisms are just so funny to watch.

This series is so great. There is a lot of kindness and caring in this for one another. The characters in the town are like a big family sometimes they fight other times they love each other but they will never fail to help one another in times of crisis or everyday living.
