The innkeeper, Mr. Talbot, is named after Lawrence Talbot, Lon Chaney Jr.'s character in The Wolf Man (1941).
In the original draft of the script, the orphans Milo and Eddie visit a pawnbroker named William Henry Pratt to secure weapons to fight the Wolfman. William Henry Pratt was Boris Karloff's birth name.
