A romcom with an age difference
Tweekums15 June 2021
Amakusa Ryo is a young salaryman with a reputation as a lady's man; he will certainly never commit to one woman. Then one day his life is saved by Arima Ichika, a school girl who happens to be in her sister's class at high school... he falls for her but she has no interest in dating this older man. He won't give up though.

This anime series could easily have ended up being creepy due to the age difference but thankfully it turned out to be surprisingly sweet thanks to the way the story plays out. Arima Ichika is a good female lead; more than capable of dealing with Amakusa Ryo's advances. Amakusa Ryo's behaviour may be somewhat inappropriate but he never comes across as threatening. The secondary characters are pretty solid too. Overall I'd certainly recommend this to anime fans looking for a romcom; the story succeeds in providing both romance and gentle comedy without being offensive.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Can love survive an age gap?
amuru-8110526 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A slow burning romance; where an older man falls in love with his little sister's best friend.

I watched it out of curiosity as I wondered what he would possibly see and desire I n her; and was pleasantly surprised that the answer is "a lot"; enough to want spending a life time investing!

While Ishika is obviously an immature girl, she has that one trait Ryo desperately needed; some one to give him "tough love" and tell it as it is. She instantly sweeps away all that is superfluous in his cool persona and insists that he be a truthful person at all times.

Her strength helps him drop his facade and look deeply into himself to set his priorities right; knowing his selfish actions have far reaching consequences. In that aspect he is like a kid trapped in a man's body as he creates layers of sophistication to hide his insecurities.

And that rivets his heart to hers.

She in turns sees the effect of her being herself on him and how he had opened up and show his vulnerable side and gains confidence to see herself as a woman worthy of him. And to meekly ask him to wait for her, which he agrees.

Her best friend Rio is such a dear but because of her love for her big brother is somewhat pushy in trying to "fix" Ishika and him, but she backs off and allows her best friend to grow at her own pace. Ishika takes this time to carefully sort out her feelings, as a rival to Roy's attention enters the equation.

Admirably, their classmate Tumasa displays more maturity in being honest with his feelings than does Ryo; putting Ryo to shame!

Warming and realistic; a work that explores the struggles of young adults and the "faces" they create to survive the real world. And how truthfulness triumphs in the end despite the apparently insurmountable age gap.

Einstein's Theory of Relativity of Age Gap
Movi3DO14 June 2021
It's Too Sick to Call this Love. A womanizer fell in love with a high school student who is much younger than him.

This anime was controversial, which made sense because at the beginning our handsome protagonist, Ryo, was pushing and simping hard on our high school girl, Ichika. The large age difference was the main factor that made this anime popular.

However, despite the sensitive topic, I loved this anime and the weird romance. There were plenty of comedic and kawaii moments that started out my Monday mornings in a good mood. The side characters had funny moments of their own, and they all pushed the story forward. Ryo's sister, who was very chill and caring, was a great and wholesome wingwoman.

For a romance comedy, there had to be some drama, and not surprisingly, the major drama here was the age gap. After the first half, the tone of the anime turned serious, and the age gap struggle became more apparent. Ichika and Ryo both had to face the issue and reflect on their feelings and futures by themselves.

Even though the anime is unique because of age gap, the progression was not new and the in last episode I pretty predicted what was going to happen. However, since I'm a sucker for feels-good romcom, I still loved those final scenes and felt very satisfied.

Since the anime is only 12 episodes, there were subplots that were glanced over. The relationship between Ryo and his dad could have been delved in more.

Overall, a lovely and enjoyable romcom anime that dealt with a controversial issue in a more lighthearted way. 8/10.

I only have Love for this anime !!

I was looking so long for an anime with good main character, good drawing and of course shojo vibes and I am happy to found this !

The Intro music is so great , I am listening to this song everyday just to be happy !

The characters are lovely, the story is not brandnew BUT it's great that the main male character is a mature man who had a lot of one night stands before ! I am really looking forward to see more episodes of this !

This is one of them shows that is good because of the side characters. Sure, the mc was interesting as well but I felt more interested in the other characters, they made me laugh and feel. I wouldn't mind another season tbh.

Way Below Average
SaberaSurovy9 December 2021
I am extremely sorry to say I didn't like it at all. I kind of hated it. And here are some reasons why:

1. Could the characters be any more one-directional? This is one of the major elements that make an anime extremely boring. I have never seen an FL more confused and lame as Ichiko. Not even Hanazawa Kana's angelic voice could hold my attention towards the anime. The last time I saw an anime this boring was Snow White with Red Hair Season 1.

2. Why in the world are the adults acting like teenagers?

3. The 10 years age gap isn't a big deal for me. But falling in love with a 17-year-old, who is still not out of high school, and 10 years younger than me? I don't think I feel very good about the theme at all. How is this okay? Is this a common culture in Japan?

4. The animation is pretty average. It looks kind of hard on the eyes.
