You felt the stakes were high

A solid episode from Superstore. Started off as an ordinary episode but it gradually built up to a breaking point. Some strong and emotional moments towards the end. The scene with Amy looking over the whole staff and realising they were a family was quite a special scene. Normally with sitcoms you often don't take the characters and show too seriously so there is no emotional payoff or it falls flat. It didn't happen here. The relatable nature of the staff allowed people to connect on some level.

Feet above water

Warning: Spoilers
Definitely this is a very poignant episode, with America Ferrera returning for her second last episode ever of Superstore, and the final scene with the Cloud 9 logo above her and she look back at her Cloud 9 colleagues, well that was incredibly emotional without a doubt. Superstore captures the zeitgeist of corporate retail culture, and the conversion of the Cloud 9 store into a fulfilment center really captures the zeitgeist sadly, with jobs being lost. So who will keep their jobs in the series finale, and who will remain with Cloud 9. I've just finished watching the finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, so I'm looking forward to watching the finale of Superstore.

Warning: Spoilers
Jonah is on the phone with Jeff to see how much he reported to corporate about the flood when he sees Amy in the back. He is shocked to see her. Cheyenne did not tell him because she was concerned about it being awkward. Amy has come back to whip up the store in shape for the analyst who will come by later. The store is decorated and cleaned. Flowers are placed everywhere including in the toilet bowl of a toilet display. Cheyenne brought on two hot greeters. The guy is especially hot. Dina and Glenn turn the unsuitable people away from the store. The analyst comes in and Amy is peering out, giving instructions. However, a bag of 8 severed feet was found in a gym bag and they decide to place a tower of drinks around it to hide it. Marcus happens to come by and is tall enough to peer into the centre. He freaks out over the feet and the analyst as well as customers witness his reaction. It becomes a crime scene and Jonah takes up the offer of the reporter to give an interview. Jonah tries to bring it back to the good qualities of the store including its return policy. Amy reveals herself and the analyst did not recognize her. The analyst says they are not closing this location, it will be great as a fulfillment centre. Amy asks but what about all these people's jobs? The analyst replies they will keep some but Amy will definitely be able to keep hers. Amy declares that she quits after looking around at her co-workers.

Oh goody, they brought back Amy

This last season was proof that this could have been an excellent show if they'd just had the writing caliber of the 1st three seasons mixed with no America Ferrera. She could be a fantastic actress, but the Amy character is just self-serving and generic. I'm really sad that there aren't more shows with the actress who plays Dina.

So however bad this episode was gonna be...just made it that much worse.

Typical forgettable episode tainted with ferrara-ness.

An episode ruined
regexfan2 April 2021
Lame, cliche speech by Amy and Jonah. Lame attempt at pulling on your heartstrings. Nope, didn't work for me. And why did they decide to bring back America Ferrera? I was happy that she left the show, but then she's back again and the episode is ruined, just like that. Jonah is tolerable without Amy, but together on screen, they become so hard to watch. Go ahead and thumb down my review because you don't like an opinion different than yours.
