- As the battle for Alpha Centauri unfolds, the Robinsons and their friends risk everything to restore peace and pave the way for a better future.
- SAR and its robots launch their attack on Alpha Centauri, and the Robinsons try to find a way to stop them. Will goes to the robots' home planet with Smith and the Robot to try and find a way to convince them stop, while Penny makes a new friend.—Gislef
- The incoming alerts throughout the settlement go off, and Will wakes up and asks his doctor if they're being attacked by robots. Maureen and the others come in, including Robot, come in and tell Will what happened. Judy tells Will to stay in bed and not overexert himself, and Robot puts his hand on Will's chest. Will understands the gesture and tells his friend that now they both have mechanical hearts.
John arrives in Ops with Maureen, and she says that they have to get the shields back up. Don tells the techs that they don't have time to repair the turbines, and Maureen says that they should use a Jupiter's engines to replace the turbine. A tech warns the grid will overheat, and Maureen says that they can use liquid helium to cool the grid. Regardless, the ships will be grounded. The chancellor suggests they use the alien engine to go to another planet, and John warns that the robots will come after them no matter where they go.
The Jupiters are called to the city and hooked up to the grid. As Grant helps John, he asks about Maureen. Before John can answer, he's called away.
Smith arrives at Ops as the evacuees start to leave, and goes to the unconscious Radic's room with a syringe from the chariot's first aid kit.
Maureen tells the chancellor that it's going to be close, but they're on schedule. Smith calls Maureen to ask if they're going to make it, and Maureen tells her that their odds are worse than usual but they're going to make it because they have to. Smith thanks Maureen for the information and prepares to inject Radic, telling the comatose man that killing him is her only chance of getting a quiet patch of land. Robot has seen her and comes in before she can make the injection, says "Help, Dr. Smith", and extends his hand for the syringe.
John and the others spray the grid connectors with liquid helium, and he sees Judy and the other evacuees leave in the chariots. Judy calls the doctor to check on Will's status, and she says that it's unchanged.
In another of the chariots heading for the copper mines, Liam tells Penny and Vijay that they should be pitching in. Vijay agrees, and Penny sarcastically says that they're good at running away.
As SAR and his fellow robots approach Alpha Centauri, the colonists continue their work. Don snaps at a colonist who is making a mistake, then hastily assure him he's doing a good job otherwise. They achieve minimum power and activate the shields. The robots continue their approach, and Maureen figures they're trying to squeeze through before they have full coverage. John plugs in the last Jupiter, and the robots' ship is destroyed when coverage is completed. The debris falls on the evacuee colony, and the robots' scrambling signal broadcasts. Maureen realizes that the robots got through at the last second, and the chariots stop. Will's doctor goes to see if there were any injuries, while the robots emerge from the debris.
Penny, Vijay, Liam, and the other children run. Will looks out with his monocular, seeing the robots. He sees that they have a new face, and realizes that SAR wants the engine to destroy Alpha Centauri like it destroyed the other planet. He yells for help, saying they need to keep the engine away from the robots. Nobody hears him, and Will unhooks himself from the monitors and the computer warns of critical heart failure.
Penny goes back for Will, and finds him resting. He tells his sister that the robots can use the engines as weapons, and tells her that she has to keep the engine away from the robots. She says that she can't, and Will tells her that he has faith in her. Penny agrees and tells him to stay there. She walks through the debris, finds the engine, and Judy approaches to help her sister, having seen her go off. Penny tells Judy that they need to get the bomb away from the robots, and the two of them carry the engine off past a damaged, immobile robot. She realizes that it's dying, starts to go help Judy drag the bomb off, then goes back to help the dying robot get out from the under the debris it's partially buried under. It stands up and restores itself.
Liam and Vijay go back with some of the children, and see the robot confronting Penny. Meanwhile, the robot's face turns blue and Penny talks to it. She names it "Sally", and when the teenagers come over, Penny tells them that she helped Sally. Vijay goes over to help the other robots damaged in the crash, and the other teenager pitch in.
Meanwhile, Judy comes to another robot and she picks up a rock as a weapon. It prepares to blast Judy, and then walks away. Judy turns and Penny and the others come over with the robots they helped, all of their faceplates blue. Will sees them through the monocular, and figures it changes everything.
Robot leaves the field where it's helping, saying "Help, Will Robinson."
Vijay says "I told you so" to Penny. She smiles and they kiss, and Sally says "Trouble". SAR and the hostile robot arrive, and Penny tells Sally that they need to keep the engine away from them. Sally and the other friendly robots charge at the hostile ones, and the two sides fight.
Robot arrives with a flight of Jupiters, goes over to Will, touching his chest. He tells it that they have a lot of work to do, and Robot helps him up and takes him to Jupiter 2. Smith is flying the ship, and once they're aboard, Smith flies the ship to the teenagers. Will calls Penny, who warns them that they'll be shot out of the sky if they approach. He tells his sister that she gave him a big idea.
Maureen and the techs get the systems online, and John is with them. They switch to a satellite view of the chariots, and see the Jupiter and the robots fighting each other. Smith radios Maureen that she's flying the ship, and Will tells them the engine has to be kept from SAR no matter what. John tells Will that they can do it, and Will tells Maureen that he's not alone and knows how to end the war. He says that every robot can be free, and someone just has to make them see that. Will tells his parents to hold on until Robot gets back. Once Will tells them to hold on and signs off, Maureen tells John that Will's new heart can't take the strain. John says that they're going to hold on after they get their kids out of there.
Will has Smith enter the rift.
John radios his daughters and tells them that they're coming to get them and the engine, and they should meet them at the main road. An enemy robot shoots Sally repeatedly, and Don with the rescue team suggests they reverse the polarity on the defense shield. SAR sees the chariots go and sends his robots after them.
Jupiter 2 arrives at the robots' homeworld, and will tells Robot that he should speak because it's one of them, and he should tell them everything.
While the robots search for the engine, Jupiter by Jupiter, Grant arrives in an older chariot and John greets him. Meanwhile, Don drives to the substation and reverses the polarity. The capacitator needs resoldering, and Don goes to work but finds a grate in his way. The robots get close to the Jupiter the family is in, and Don finds the duct tape he needs in his jacket. He makes the connection, electrifying the robots while the colonists are insulated in the Jupiters. Don sees SAR and the remaining robots surround the electrified Jupiters and radios a warning, and John tells him to get away and stay safe. John figures the power from the Jupiters powering the field will hold until Will gets back.
Will passes out and then wakes up to find Smith making him comfortable. Robot goes out to the other robots and etches pictures into the rocks of the two of them becoming friends, and how Robot gained a "heart". Then Robot draws a picture of Penny doing what Will did, and then the other robots leave. Robot goes back to the Jupiter, and Smith asks it if there's anything it can do for Will, who has been flickering in and out of consciousness.
Robot carries Will out, digs a depression, puts its hand on Will's chest, and tells Will "Trust". It surrounds them with a metal shield from its body, forming a cocoon, and the lightning from on oncoming storm hits the shield and reduces Robot to ash, but jumpstarts Will's heart. Smith comes over and Will says that Robot shouldn't have done that. She tells Will that he knows why, and they should get Will back to the ship. A nearby robot watches.
In the ship, Will tells Smith the last thing Robot said to him. He checks himself on the medical monitors and confirms that he's completely healed, and finds a piece of Robot in his heart. They both say that Robot saved them, and she says that Robot stopped her from killing Radic, and Robot has always knew what they needed. The robots approach the ship,
On Alpha Centauri, SAR confirms that the Jupiters are still electrified. The ships switch to the secondary fuel supply when the primaries are exhausted. The reserve fuel levels drop, and in the garage John and Grant work on the chariot. Grant hanks John for keeping him alive when a lot of men wouldn't have, and John says that he had big shoes to fill. Maureen's first husband says that the many firsts he did don't seem like much compared to what he missed. The fuel reserve levels grow critical.
On the bridge, Maureen is with Judy and Penny. The robots climb back on the ships and one breaks in. The women run to the garage where the engine is, and John tells Grant to take care of their children. Grant drives off in the chariot, while John and Maureen take the engine to the other chariot. As they drive off, John suggests to Maureen that they go to an Italian restaurant in the city when it's all over. Maureen agrees, and a robot blast knocks the chariot over. Maureen is injured in the crash, and calls to John but gets no answer. She looks up at the sky and remembers doing the same thing when she was younger, and looking at the stars with Will and telling him it's even better now that she has a family.
Maureen climbs out and sees an approaching robot, and the engine between them. As it picks up the engine, Maureen grabs a liquid hydrogen line, says that she's Will's mother, and shoots the hydrogen at the robot. It freezes and John shatters it with a pipe, then hits the approaching SAR but it shrugs off the blow and knocks John back. Maureen goes to her husband, and SAR activates up the engine. Will sends a transmission on John's wrist unit telling his father to play him. Will's Jupiter arrives and lands. When he plays the tone, Judy and others join in, surrounding SAR and trapping it. Will tells SAR to turn off the engine, but it refuses. When Will turns off his wrist unit, SAR leaps at him and stabs him in the heart again.
Will remembers Robot telling him to trust, and tells SAR that Robot knew SAR would go for his heart again. Robot's code emerges from the heart and enters SAR, and Robot takes over SAR and transforms its body into a replica of his own. It shuts down the engine and tells Will "Safe". It goes over to Will, and puts its hand on the teenager's shoulder. Maureen hugs John, and says that she sees the colony's destruction as a chance to rebuild it better, as John kisses her.
Later at home, Penny is working on her book and writes epilogue. Maureen and Don are in orbit building another spaceship to replace the Resolute along with the robots. Most of the robots left, including Sally once she was reassembled. Penny figures Sally is not afraid to look for her place in the universe, just like her.
John is working in a cornfield, as relaxed as Penny has ever seen him. Judy is working as a doctor in medical. Smith goes to see Radic and he tells her that he knows what she did and who she really is. She shows him her confession she wrote, and is taken to jail. Maureen visits Smith, asks who she really is, and tells her that she'll have a job for her Smith when she gets out.
That night, Maureen is out looking at the stars. She goes in to have dinner with her family, along with Grant, Debbie, and Robot, and Will says that he and Robot are going out into the galaxy. Maureen tell Will to be home by Christmas, and he says that they will be.
Penny writes that things don't always turn out as planned, and writes "The End of Chapter One" to her book.
Will makes a mission log about the first human/robot exploratory group, while standing on an alien planet, and says that it's beautiful.
