Alice Johnson poetry lover
dtucker8627 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the inferior later episodes. This is common in any long running series where the writers are running out of ideas and don't have the good sense to quit while they are ahead. For four years we have seen that Pete and Liz have a strong and loving relationship (even if they never took it to the next level) now all of a sudden they are quarreling like a couple of little spoiled children over a paper they are writing. This is just a run of the mill story with no originality that concerns Alice teaching her students poetry and finding out one of them is quite good. This brings her into conflict with the boy's down to earth father who looks down on poetry. Ho hum.

Words And Music

Aspiring poet Woody gets together with Melinda who writes music to see if they can sell songs.

A good episode, interesting guest stars. Susan Sennett is Melinda, she was in a few movies and TV episodes before quitting acting and married and divorced musician Graham Nash. Woody's father does not want his son being a poet since there is no money in it. The father is played by Arthur Franz who was many films such as the title role in "The Sniper" (1952) and a supporting part in "The Caine Mutiny" (1954).
