These other negative reviews are idiotic

Warning: Spoilers
We have a bunch of reviewers on here who appear to be experts on mental illness. Give me a break... the show did an excellent job portraying Steven and his struggles. I loved it. The show was beautiful in its execution. Sometimes, the struggle of dealing with intense pressure and everyone else moving on without you can be quite overwhelming. There is never a cure-all, but what worked for Steven, worked for Steven. I think they did an excellent job. Future was one of my favorite seasons for sure. Seeing Steven as a diamond was amazing. Thank you Rebecca Sugar. I still wish I got to see more of Pink/Rose though! I hope to see more seasons in the future!

Steven's future
MB-reviewer18519 December 2021
First, watch the series Steven Universe (2013-2019), and Steven Universe: The Movie (2019) to understand the events in this show. Steven Universe Future (2019-2020) is as good as the first series and the movie, now it focuses on a lot of serious matters with Steven and his problems with his powers because of earlier events.

Steven goes through a lot in this series involving his problems, powers, and his need to help everyone else then himself. The new powers he gains are cool, but you learn that it takes control of him, and he gets carried away with them, while also trying to keep things the way they are without changing anything. Each episode makes you feel for him, especially in the last two episodes.

I still like the Crystal Gems Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst, but I also like the other gems like Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, and Bismuth. There will occasionally be another gem who returned from the first series to be an antagonist that Steven must deal with in one episode. But most of the series is Steven coming to grips with himself, his powers, and the problems with himself he keeps trying to bury deep inside himself while trying other people or other gems.

The animation is once again fantastic, and the visuals are pretty. The action scenes are fun and can be serious for the subject the episode is focusing on, especially when an episode ends with something serious, and it carries over to the next episode. You also learn more about certain gem locations when the characters go to them, and the things that happened to the gems in the past when they show up with something wrong happening to them.

The show's last two episodes will make you cry, especially the last episode. Steven Universe Future (2019-2020) was such a great ending to Steven Universe, and it will make you want to rewatch the first series Steven Universe (2013-2019), Steven Universe: The Movie (2019), and this series once you finish it because of how great it was to watch all twenty episodes.

For fans only

The original series had an undeniable charm. However, the new iteration left me often groaning over plot and dialogue choices. Young Steven somehow seems more mature than future Steven who unexplainably lost the ability to communicate his feelings or handle his emotions.

This tends to be the basis for most of the problems in each episode, which is at odds with the attempt to set an older tone, and address more mature issues.

It's great to spend more time watching some beloved characters, but the previous show had a great formula where they would solve problems over the course of an episode or arc. Unfortunately for this show, the problem is Steven.

Steven works through PTSD. Charming, relatable content!
featherbendkathryn27 August 2021
This is a follow up to our favorite show that deals with heavier themes. If you are looking for light, look elsewhere.

Steven is a little older and like many of us, has had time to reflect on his childhood. The traumatic events he's endured has taken a physical and emotional toll (as they often do) on him and he doesn't know how to handle it.

This is a very relatable second chapter that has the same charm and story driven characters that we love from the first edition.

Anyone who has struggled with PTSD, depression/anxiety or anything mental health related will find a comforting story here.

Bonus for new music with an entire soundtrack! Rebecca Sugar does it again.

For the people saying that the hug cured him
carmonblosom2 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't the thing that took him out of his monster form; it was his tears. You can see the water turning pink. And that didn't cure his PTSD after going to therapy for 5 months and leaving Beach City (moving on with his life) is what really cured him.

Hit so close to home
fortnito18 October 2022
I don't think I've ever written a review to anything before, and I don't even think I'll do so, but I want to let my thoughts out, a little bit.

I'm your average 16-year-old, you know, the ones that have identity issues, having a crisis trying to find their place in life. Now that I write it down, it does sound weird, but all this has been putting a toll on me. I've never been good at processing my thoughts or my emotions.

This show encapsulated everything I've been going through lately. I don't think I've ever baby cried like this to anything before. I loved the other seasons, but this was something that I needed. Being afraid of showing a part of yourself that you are too afraid of others seeing is really tough. Guess it's time to think.

Cried so hard!
didij09019 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was very relatable, didn't even know I needed a good cry till My tears just started shedding and lasted all through the 3 last episodes.

This was a great turning point for Steven he was always trying to help everyone and that can take a toll on you especially when you put other's happiness before your own. This whole season felt like a ballon expanding and expanding till it got to its limit and exploded. I think it took a very natural and humane course, what is a teenage boy supposed to do after undergoing traumas to save the whole universe whilst also undoing his mother's past mistakes adding watching everyone just figure out their path while in the meantime he still has so many un-dealt past traumas and future anxiety. You're sure to shatter at one point especially mixing in those teenage hormones.

I think many people could relate to this season, having anxiety and unprocessed emotions takes a toll on anyone who's trying to figure out their place in the universe.

Definitely left me wanting more. Wish I could give it 100/10! There's very little shows that provoke so much emotions in me.

It has everything to be a great cartoon but...
victorruizleopoldino13 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, we've known a lot about Rose/Pink Diamond and the cartoon is basically Steven feeling guilty about his mother's mistakes and trying to fix it.

So suddenly we have a lot of new plots which could be better developed but they aren't, the only plot that carries the animation on it's back is the relation Steven X Jasper.

We could easily ignore everything bad and assume it is a good cartoon, but now comes the icing on the cake, Steven clearly have depression and he is cured with, take a breath, a hug.

I think it's such a shame a cartoon with a lot of social representation, showing it's is normal be different or have a different sexual orientation, takes such an shallow approach about mental illness.

It is not bad, but could be so much better, I don't blame Rebecca, the cartoon was clearly made on a hurry.

Crítica a Steven universo futuro
joaoemanuelrpm17 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers

This show is giving me courage The Cowardly Dog vibes sheesh
mackeymellarie28 May 2022
Steven Universe Future is a cartoon series created by Rebecca Sugar and produced by Cartoon Network Studios. The animation of the show was actually stunning, and when I watched the whole sixth season, it gave me chills. Steven seems to be smarter than Rick Sanchez from "Rick and Morty," and the plot of this show is actually stunning, as if it were ahead of its time. The show is so well-written that it's almost divine-100 out of 10 stars!

Love this show!!!
bgfphu2 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show might be a little bit cheesy and controversial because the end might not be ideal since Steven is only at most 17. But here is the thing, this is an imaginary world; and I moved out when I was 17, and my parents did the same, even a bit younger than me when they moved out. But moving out when you are young is fine, and I never looked back with regret, well, there were stuffs that I could have done better, but I never regret that I moved out. And more importantly this show is not about Steven moving out at all, it's how he and those around him deal with his traumas and emotions. So don't be that person who ignores everything just because the ending.

In the end, I think you might not like it either because his life is so perfect as he has gone through a plethora of events that you did not have a chance to experience, or because you just forgot how reckless you were when you were young.

dissapointing
eldominar11 June 2022
Bing watched the original series and loved it. Watched this one for 5 episodes and just lost interest. I heard it gets weird in cringy as the series goes on but I didn't make it that far. I was interested to see the characters continue to develop and exploring that universe, but instead all the interesting stuff and character changes were off screen and the message seemed to be "things just randomly change that's what growing up is".

They could've done more
Anne_Boonchuy_12310 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Personally I enjoyed it but I still don't understand how a hug turned him back. Idk I think I'm just dumb but whatever. We also should've gotten more pearl, garnet, and amethyst. But then again the show is told from steven's perspective so who am I to say.

Disappointing
gargarosgargaros10 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Most episodes are just trash, I expected a lot more. The only ones i like are 16 17 18 and 19 but when it got fun in episode 19 the fun already ended after 8 minutes , it would've been entertaining to watch steven become an even angrier monster after he couldn't handle his emotions and actually hurt his friends and the planet. But they missed out on a lot of good ideas. Im disappointed by the first 15 episodes and by the ending because it was absolute trash, they could've gotten sooo much out of this but no. Hopefully they make season 7 or a prologue or something with more exiting adventures because i liked the old steven universe episodes, not these.
